For the first time a lung has been created in the laboratory were successfully replaced in a pig body.
Although The artificial lung are just as effective as the natural lungs. It is expected that one day the artificial lung can be replaced in a human body.
Usually, if the limb gets damaged due to the disease, it is necessary to wait for the donor to replace it.Many times patient died if they do not get a donor. But this technology will never have to wait for the donor
Joan Nicholas, assistant director at Galveston National Laboratory at the University of Texas Medical Branch, said that a complete body like lungs were first created and replaced. There is no infection after transplantation and the organisms that are transmitted to the lungs are also healthy.Usually, the organs made in the laboratory is inactive within a few hours of transplantation. But these lungs are active and effective after two months.
In order to create this lung in laboratory, the researchers first used a pair of pigs to make a mold or scaffold. Then as a source, a lung from another pig is taken. After this 'patient' bio-engineering in the form of pig's lungs, new lungs are formed and it is replaced in the pig's body.
In all, six pairs of lungs were thus made. But due to complications of surgery, the lungs were replaced by only four pigs.
Nicholas said that after the transplantation, the puffs are naturally in the body of pigs, its growth are naturally. This method may require more 5 to 8 years of examination to be possible in the human body.
