All Girls Schools

They felt the best option was an all girls private school. I was very reluctant. Why did I have to go to a private school , wear a uniform, and go to school with all girls ? But my parents made it very clear, it was either that , or I don’t go to school.

The thought of not going to school was pretty scary to me. In addition to that, I never really went against my parents wishes, at least never openly to their faces. What they didn’t know, didn’t hurt them ( or me for that matter ).

I didn’t know what to expect, and I didn’t like the idea of wearing a uniform everyday either.

Last night, someone said to me “oh, I give you credit. I could have never went to an all girls School.” This really offended me. I couldn’t believe she said that to me. This younger girl, who grew up in a far from strict household and went away to college to party more than to learn , had the nerve to say this to me.

As a teenager I didn’t appreciate going to an all girls school. However, as an adult I realize the advantages I had by going to a private all girls school. We didn’t have to worry about boys grabbing me or harassing me. I didn’t have to worry about what I said in class. I didn’t have to worry about crushes, dating, and breakups in school. I didn’t have to worry about competing with a boy . I didn’t have to worry about the stereotypes of girls aren’t good in math and science. Math is where I excelled.

I think going to an all girls school helped me become less intimidated by men and made me a stronger woman. When I went to college, I was never afraid or intimidated to question a mans theory on something. I was always up for a debate, and stood my ground. If I knew I was right, I did not back down.
