Last saturday we went to Tatras, a mountain circuit in southern Poland with @snowwhite. The path we took is called Orla Perć (Path of the Eagle) and it's considered the most difficult from all southern mountain area.

Just to make you have an idea about it: More than 140 people died already there.

That was a biiiig fall...

Actually when we were arriving a red helicopter was picking up a guy... or a body, from in between the mountains.

@snowwhite at the ladder.

All along the place we could spot many different graves and little stone sculptures as reminder of the fallen.

The hardest part was a 100 year old ladder that had absolutely nothing under it, only few chains before and after and a crack in the wall to put your feet. I was the first going down there. (Damn I am so thankful to my childhood of going to the roof of my parents house with a ladder). That rusty metal was screaming and moving so much, for some reason I felt in the world of Half-Life 2.

This ladder is where more people lost their lives. My respect to them.

We arrive late to the mountain, and made a good friend, Sebastian Kubicz, that was making hitch hiking! Is thanks to him that we found this amazing place, thanks buddy! But please next time don't fart so many times!

Some numbers:

  • We spent eleven (11) hours with a maximum of 30 minutes, all stops (for breathing and eating, and watching how fucked up we were at the pick and edge of the mountains).
  • We did 29000 steps within the path and from the car to the place.
  • More than 30 km.
  • and more than 2 km up, and 2 km down.

Next time we are taking a sleeping bag baby !

It was a beautiful adventure, a completely different day and experience. I think we been really lucky to pick up Sebastian from the road because it was thanks to him that we heard about this mountains. And we been double lucky since this is a path that is only legally opened at summer, and the weather conditions were just perfect!

Life is out there, go and catch it!

As @snowwhite would say...

...Life is made by moments like this =)

Ah the Tatras, training ground for some of the most daring climbers on Earth! You for example :) Google the "Polish Line" for fun if you want. I am mildly obsessed with the Polish winter ascent bid on K2...
A bit of runout there...Amazing!!! Respect to you!
I'd bring microspikes myself next time just in case things get even slightly slippery underfoot. Verglas (hidden thin glaze of ice) takes many. Also I would go with a stiffer boot with a full length shank to get the most protection from the cracks...but that's me.
I'm guessing the critical factor is carefully setting your grip on the chains before stepping forward. Each and every single time...
If weather conditions were even slightly iffy I'd clip with a safety rope with the person behind unclipping for the one above. Might make things slow though. So exciting!

You are entirely right, i should get better gear next time... my boots were good tho', even if they were the cheapest i could find. And yeah, sometimes it was good to hold the chains, sometimes it was better to hold yourself straight from the rock.

I need to go to climbing wall to practice that sht! :D

bring the spikes too though, for example...microspikes. If your feet slip once you just pull them on over your boots...they are good on ice.
Ah yes. There is nothing like holding onto good sold rock for dear life :)

Haha sure! :D Although there is nothing like the mountain ay?

Your first image caught my attention because it reminded me of "where's Waldo ". Man, my heart races when I imagine myself looking down from a height like that. Very beautiful and I'm glad you stayed safe! Thanks for sharing!

Hahaha it s just about being alive (and keeping that way!), life is full of amazing experiences that should be lived =)

This must've been very thrilling and adrenaline levels were probably exploding in your body ! I'm sure this was something to remember for the rest of your life :)

oh hell yes, it was something unforgettable, although I want to do it again <3

Next time??!! You crazy! I love hiking, but this is a bit extreme for me! Thanks for sharing! Good shit! 🤘🏼🙌🏼

Hahaha life is for living ! <3

That is cool and crazy at the same time :-) I like the picture at an angle where they look to be standing leaning to the right.
