That Damn Dog

Recently, my world has been upheaved with a new addition. No, not a child, but a puppy. He is a mixed Terrier Breed and has been a part of my world for about six months. 20170624_121518.jpg
His name is Clarence and he is so spoiled that he doesn't realize that he is a dog most of the time. He was a pretty well behaved dog. He blended well with the other pets in the house and was easily house trained. However, recently when you leave, the world implodes.

At first, it was minor: rugs pulled around from the kitchen and bathroom, as well as pillows knocked off the couch. Now, it is a warzone: rolls of bath tissue shredded, trashcans tipped and torn apart, books eaten. He goes so far to sneak clothing and shoes into the back yard through the dog door to eat them. Today, I noticed my kitched table has a leg that he has been "eating."

According to the ASPCA, this is quite common in dogs that are left at home alone to experience separation anxiety. Yet he's not alone. Ever. There's usually a person or another dog there. I even set up a monitor to check he's not being bullied by the other dog. I'm truly at my wits end with this little guy and his destruction.

This week we go to vet to get his checkup. Maybe there will be something to regulate his extremes. I'm not sure how I feel about medication being forced down his tiny throat because I don't believe I have been given enough direction on how to refocus him. But I am seriously sick and tired of picking up laundry out of the yard!
