Berkey Water Filter - Wellness Wednesday by A Panama Mama

in life •  7 years ago

Over the past few years, we have started drinking water at our home that has gone through a Berkey filter. We usually do not have bottled water around and do not drink tap water. These filters remove everything that is unsafe to have in your water. The kids have even learned that they need to use the filtered water only. We love our Berkey!!

When we moved to Panama, we were told the water was safe to drink. So from the start, we were drinking tap water, but we were really missing our Berkey filter. We lived this way for about 6 weeks until our container arrived with our filter. Around that time, we found out we had contracted parasites from drinking the tap water here! We were able to treat that naturally (I plan to post about that next Wednesday) and have been fine since, thanks to our filter!

That's a really interesting filter. I have a well for water but we can't drink from it right now because it tested positive for pesticides and lead. I've been researching filters and saw some that looked like yours I am considering.

Nice! When we lived in Texas, we had an RO system and loved it as well. We had a guy come test the water and he said it took everything out. The Berkey seems to be doing great for us here in Panama and doesn't require electricity. Even better! :)

I really like my Berkey Light. We take it camping with us. Last year about this time we used our Berkey to filter rain water. Best water ever! @ironshield

That's a great idea. We get a ton of rain here. Like today. Tons and tons. Our water comes directly from the river. :)

My husband and I have been talking about making this purchase! A friend of ours has it and loves it! Now just to decide which one to get!

We bought ours at a discount on the scratch and dent link in their site. I forget how much we saved - just a little. We have the biggest one they sell and the one that's about a gallon.

I too was looking at scratch and dent! Thanks!

That's really great that your filter does not require electricity. I enjoy our water distiller and sometimes just use a filter that makes the water more alkaline.

Woohoooo love our Berkey too! We brought ours in a suitcase on our recon trip! It got dented, but it still works great! ;)
