Kleen Kanteens are something we all have in this family! We got them a few years ago for Christmas and I absolutely love them. Everyone has their own and they know to take them with us when we leave, bring them to the table for meals and to generally always know where they are. It drastically cuts down on having to clean cups (which is a big deal when you have seven people in the family and no dishwasher).
Today I decided to clean them since it has been a little while. I used a scrub brush to clean the inside all the way to the bottom, let them soak and scrubbed the top with a toothbrush. Then, I looked at them and thought I need to do that more often. It's one of the chores I forget to do. Cleaning them out would surely be better for our health than drinking clean water from our Berkey that has been sitting in a dirty Klean Kanteen!
Another chore I have to do that I always forget is keeping our back up power and plug in lanterns charged up. You see, our power goes out pretty regularly here. At least once a month or so we have the power go out for an extended time (around 8 hours). Our cell phones start to die and we are sitting in the dark without these items being charged. I have always said I needed to come up with a plan as to when to charge them each week, so that it is part of my routine.
Seeing these two items that really need to be done regularly and are routinely left out, I know I need to make a plan. I want to start small and pick a day every week to clean the Kanteens and get the external batteries charged as well as the lantern. I think Wellness Wednesday makes a great time to do this, and starting small means I'll probably accomplish it. As I find other things I need to do each week that I keep forgetting, I can add them to the established routine at that time.
How about you? Do you have chores that you forget to do like cleaning out the water bottles or charging batteries? How do you remind yourself to get them done regularly? Share your advice if you have some!
Wellness Wednesday will be brought to you here every Wednesday by A Panama Mama.

If you get an offline phone charger you don't need to worry about your phones when the power goes out. Here's an example:

You do, of course, have to charge the charger. Another chore to forget.

I bought a 20100 mAh one of these a while back that charges at 3.4 A. It's been an asset for sure because it can recharge a phone 6 times, and it holds its charge for extended periods of time. You're right about forgetting to charge it, though, because it takes several hours to get it back to its full charge.
Great suggestion!

Thanks for the tip! Yeah, charging the charger would probably be forgotten as well. ;)

Oh my goodness this is great @apanamamama! I was just looking at these Klean Kanteens online yesterday. My son who is 15 months is ready to graduate to a cup. We don’t like plastic and we don’t want to do glass cups because he tends to throw them down when he’s finished like Thor does when he says “Another”!! Lol so would you say these kanteens are even good for the little ones. I saw that they have a first stager one for toddlers. The main complaints in the reviews were it was hard to clean in the tops which it seems you don’t have a problem doing that and that the handle smashes the kids noses as they drink.
We are truly alike in a lot of ways . I wasn’t expecting anyone on here to even talk about these kanteens! So cool! 😃

Wow! :) Lol! Yes, we love our Kanteens. They really do work great for us. It is kind of a pain to clean the tops of the sport top ones and we have one that is a sippy cup topper that is green (that goes on the little yellow one). I had to quit using it because I could see the mold in the tip top of it and just couldn't get to it with a toothbrush. Now he uses a sport top and it works fine (he turns 3 in Feb). If you use the sport top, it will leak if left open and on its side. The kids find it hard to open the top of the sport top and usually pull it open with their teeth or just always leave it open. If you use the stopper in the top of the sippy cup one, it doesn't leak but then you get another level of mold. I guess you could boil/clean it daily and not have a problem, but that honestly would never happen in this house. ;)

Okay. Thank you so much for your review and sharing with me about the mold. That’s what I was afraid of. I found another brand called Pura Kiki and they have decent reviews. We might look into getting that one instead.
I have to be honest and say I wouldn’t boil them everyday either. Thanks again :)

I actually don't like calling them chores because it makes me think of being a kid and being told what I had to do, but housework isn't a fun thing either. I need to come up with a new word. I started saying "quehaceres" which is what "chores" is in Spanish. But I forget! No one likes to do chores. That's how the house falls apart. ;)

Cleanliness is one thing which should not be compromised with anything and everything whichever you are using in day to day life.

Very true. Crazy thing is...I wrote this post yesterday and we just spent 5 hours with no power! And my computer and phone were both just about to die. ;) Lol
