DREAMS Vs AMBITIONS

These days, so many persons are talking about dreams and many can’t distinguish between ambitions and dreams

Well after this article, you should take a good look at your “dreams” again to know if it’s indeed a dream or an Ambition.

Your dreams are not what you see when sleep, rather, they what keeps you from sleeping. Dreams literally, is the opposite of what I just defined, but for the purpose of this write up, the definition above is hereby adopted. ; )

This definition here refers to those ideas, visions that are always persistent in your mind which gives you sleepless night and is geared towards betterment of humanity.

Most times, some of us think that we are too small to impact on our society, too small to be noticed, so they just lay back and accept the self fulfilling prophecy. They have bought into the idea that a tree can’t make a forest. But I tell you, that a tree can make a forest if it bears fruits.

When you produce fruits, your seeds will drop and germinate and thus give rise to more trees and those trees give birth to others, the wind will help you in circulating it , birds can carry it to another city and drop it there, now you are spreading. You can’t be alone if you bring forth fruits

Dreams have always been more about others rather than the dreamer

Ambitions on the other hand, are the contrary. Ambition is one’s self desire to achieve or have something and not necessarily for good of humanity but for self. That’s when one says; dream car, dream house, dream wedding etc…it’s actually your ambitions calling.

Lets further clarify, inventing an Iphone was a man’s dream, (Steve Jobs) and you buying it just to show off, is an ambition. The inventor had the dream of making the world first screen touch phone when many thought it impossible, but finally, he achieved it, and the world is better for it. But young lads will buy it these days not for the benefit of anybody but to gratify their ego and associate with class.

The man that invented telephone, (Bale) came about it when he was trying to find a way to help people with hearing deficiency to be able to communicate and by so doing, telephone was invented and the world has become better for it.

The airplane was invented because the twin brothers wanted to see how we humans can go across rivers and oceans to see the world and meet new people and not limited by distance…Facebook was invented as an internal communication app inside the campus so that students will find it easy to communicate easily inside campus. Now it’s a world changer. Okay what of steemit( awesome) helping people to communicate and at the same time break even and brake cultural ,political, and class

boundaries. I can go on and on to list all the great inventions of great dreams, and you will notice that none was for “self” rather a way to better the world.

So what’s your dream about? What are you going to give back to your society and to God, yes to God because life is His gift to us and what we do with it, is our gift to Him and to our society. Now you may be asking, must everyone be an inventor? Well the answer is NO! you can give your time, your talent money ideas, anything in any form that will add value to people around you and not necessarily getting a reward back because, until you do something for someone who can’t pay you back…you have not lived.

Finally, share your dreams. An idea shared is an idea accepted. Until you share it with others, you won’t know the joy.

Imagine if the boy with two fishes and five loaves did not share, so is your dreams and ideas. Until you agree to share, it will never be enough.

The joy is in “us” not “self”.
