Just after Getting out of Hospital see:-https://steemit.com/life/@awgbibb/chronicles-of-alan-lucas-9

When I got home a Good Friend of Mine, Tyler du Plessis came to see me and asked what he could do to help. He put together a Maid's room out of wood in the Back of my Garage , so that we could get some assistance. With both Chris and I having Broken arms , we could not do much!

Also as I had been in the Motor industry at this time, The Medical Aid did not cover Passengers on Motorcycles , so all Chris's Medical Bills were for our own account!

At the time of the accident , I was down to 2 Bikes, The Kawasaki 900 that We crashed on, and the immaculate Norton 750 that I really loved.

When I wandered into the Garage where all the items from the prang were lying, My Kawasaki had burnt. I could see the Front of my helmet had been smashed in, then I received a real shock!

Chris's Helmet had a huge bolt sticking out of it ( about 6 inches ) this had obviously been picked up in the veldt, The end inside was flush with the padding, If there had been another impact on this bolt ,it would have gone straight into her skull!

Herman, My friend who ran the Bike Hospital , was looking for a Kawa like mine to rebuild and Modify even further , so, we came to an arrangement.

Charlotte, Wayne;s Girlfriend sent me a Whatsapp Message a few days ago, that reads as follows:-

" The best thing, about the worst time of your life, is that you get to see the true colours of everyone!"

Funny that , a friend who had always admired my Norton ( rode a Kawasaki as well) came to see me .

I had no intention of parting with the Norton , but with the state I was in?, said to me , you know I have always coveted that machine, sell it to me , I will look after it , and any time you want to ride it , you are welcome!

So, I sold it to him ( remember Medical Bills) for a fraction of what it was worth, and I had another complete Bike as spares for it which I gave to him.

I assume the conversation that he had just before coming to collect it from me went like this:-

" I have found (some dumb idiot with) an immaculate Norton Commando which I can give you for only (I assume) three times what he paid me for it."

I imagine it never even went to his house , and was a done deal before he spoke with me. I cannot remember his name , which does not bother me at all!

The part that really hurts is I considered him a good friend , we rode together every now and then. He obviously thought I was a sucker , ripe for the taking!

Would not have tried it when I was in perfect health.

I remember a while later that Herman had rebuilt my Bike , and on the way back from the Coast ( I believe) , between towns ,

he went through a Speedtrap so fast that they mobilised the Police forces of both towns, Roadblocks and all to eventually catch him!

karma for Herman, and Charlotte's message contains much wisdom. Sorry you were betrayed, @awgbibb, but it's happened to me many times and I empathize with that pain - greater than the wounds and bruises from your accident, my friend...

be safe...carefully enjoy yourself

thanks for this chronicle... how could the police capture him.. did he not have the turbo boost button like "kit"had?

When the road is blocked and your machine is not designed for offroad ?, He actually turned around and went back the other way, only to meet another Roadblock!

thats bad... what happens when a not machine for off road, tries to do it...and off road in South Africa is different then Holland maybe... I posted a new article. I think it's good, what do you think about it?

Yep he didn't obey the speed limit.

Are they not just a suggestion?

Ride safe and feel the Thrill !!

Try, Thanks.

woow Great Video @awgbibb Bravoo

Thank You.

That was a great ride video

Yes it was, Thanks.

Always some "friend" comes along to take an advantage. Shame on people.

I suppose Con Artists, need to be friendly!

" The best thing, about the worst time of your life, is that you get to see the true colours of everyone!"

Very true.... realized about my own relatives during the time my mother was very sick suffering from liver cancer.

awesome bro what a rid amazing

Life is very beautiful but sometimes cruel. As witnessed by the victims of road accidents or work that have lost their autonomy forever.

great story and awesome video
your post is so orginal , i resteem it

video was really cool to watch

Thanks.

'Both arms broken', and having to cover your medical bills by selling your bike, God dude you are due some good luck. There's a saying we have the UK and that's "money well spent' in cases like that with 'friends'. Take care.

Very good video. I think that at some point it advances

Thanks.

Yes we really need to be careful with friends some are really bad.

True, just move on, I suppose? , Thanks.

You are correct.

Wow that Norton Commando 750 is so fast. So much power behind it, it is absolutely insane!

Sucks that medical aid doesn't cover passengers and the fees had to come out from your own pocket. At least Chris was okay in the end.

She is lucky that nothing worse happened since it seemed like some fatal injuries could have occurred. It is really scary just thinking about it.

I can't believe that guy rather than trying to help you out would try and steal that beautiful Commando for a bargain while you were desperate to cover medical fees and needed help. It is sad that people take advantage of good people who are in need.

Well I'm glad that you are ok @awgbibb. Stay safe friend! :)

Thank You, Yes it was an amazing Machine , Acceleration that would give far more modern bikes a good go, at the time!
As you say, could have been a lot worse, My friend.

You are a very brave man, if after all accidents you were still riding motorcycles!

Or Stupid! Thanks.

"The best thing, about the worst time of your life, is that you get to see the true colours of everyone!" - wise and truthful words! Thank you very much dear @awgbibb for your Chronicles! Best wishes to you!

Thank You.

Awesome video!
Speed!
It's like I was driving with a driver!

Great Video, Thank you.

" The best thing, about the worst time of your life, is that you get to see the true colours of everyone!"

Ain't that the truth. Sad that some people take advantage of us in those circumstances.

How did the Norton 750 ride?

  ·  7 years ago (edited)

Because of the Isolastic Engine & Gearbox Mountings , did not feel much Vibration, Handled like a Dream. Out accelerated most of the Japanese Bikes , which were ten years younger at the time, Huge torque , very easy to ride.

Sounds Harleyesque.

I share the luck of your community .. Hopefully today you can be more exciting again .. @ iminmesra

Thank You, hope to.

Saya turut berbagi keburuntungan komunitas anda.. Semoga hari hari anda bisa lebih menyenangkan lagi..@iminmesra

Nice !! when driving on this bike it wont matter what kind of road is on your way :-)

Certainly looks that way, would hate to ride it at any kind of speed ,though!

I know you like new things, just give it a try, it will feel bumpy aswell !

Motor that I have never met .. I like your bike ..

Good lessons for life! An angel looking after your wife, and the true nature of those we would call "friends" revealed.

True words, and not in idle jest, either! Thank You.

" The best thing, about the worst time of your life, is that you get to see the true colours of everyone!" .....this is something i have experienced in my own life ina very worst possible way.....very nice post sir @awgibb.
