No more than two weeks ago, I started working at Starbucks. I had quit my old job in meat department because I was always unhappy when going in to work. But when I started working at Starbucks, every day was fun and went by so fast. I had to move stores since my original store didn't have a Starbucks in it yet. So I figured I would move to the store my dad is a manger at since it's close to home. He knew it wouldn't be an issue if I worked at the same store because I was only going to be here for the Summer and then head back to school. None of the employees or other managers had an issue with me working at the same store as my dad. Even the store manager asked if I wanted to be permanently transferred to this store so that I can be put on the schedule. Until last Monday. That same manager who asked if I wanted to be transfered to the new store, now informed my dad that I can't work there anymore because family members can't work at the same store or whatever BS rule there was. So now I had to plan on transferring to ANOTHER store.
Here's where I get beyond annoyed. Luckily, there are a few Harris Teeter's within my town that are close by, so I had another store to move to that was only 10 minutes from my house. Since schedules are from Wednesday-Tuesday, I couldn't be put on the schedule at my new store because they have to be done by the previous Friday. Monday was my last day at the previous store, so the schedule for the third store I'm going to already had their week planned. But the thing with working at Starbucks in a Harris Teeter is that you are given 60 non-labor training hours that don't count against the departments actual weekly labor hours. So I could be given a 40 hour work week RIGHT NOW and the other employees wouldn't have to have their hours cut. But for some reason, I'm not working this week even though it wouldn't count against them. So I've been trying to talk to the new boss, but since I don't have her number and she's been off for a few days, I haven't been able to reach her and ask that I be put on the schedule right now. Otherwise, I go a whole week without a paycheck. Since I'll be going back to college soon and I have a vacation next month, I'm trying to make as much money as I can so that I have a healthy budget for expenses. I'm not broke, I'd just like to work as much as possible so I can go out whenever.
I haven't worked since last Monday (July 3rd) and it seems like I probably won't work until next Wednesday (July 12). I'm stuck at home with nothing to do for the next six days when I'd rather be working at a place I actually enjoy.
Rant over.
I noticed they put a Starbucks in the HT at Brookdale which is my local store. I'm usually shopping Food Lion but I go to HT for certain items on occasion. Not a huge coffee drinker but if that's your store I'll drop in and get one someday.

Thats life. It has frustrations. My advice is that you look for fulltime work next time. Because part-time work is inconsistent and they may give you crappy hours.
