For us who live in the city, modernization and individualism have become our daily food. Our self is often hunted by responsibility for fast-paced and busy jobs and education. But as it turns out, with a little roaming out of the urban areas, there is an extraordinary life that often escapes our eyes: those who live in rural areas that have not yet completely decayed in the influence of modern lifestyles. Simplicity and tradition become their power to live a meaningful life. These are the moments that the photographer Ayima Darma succeeds with his camera.
The day begins with a handful of mornings.
Bathing, not just a private activity. The day begins with a handful of mornings. Here, bathing is not just a private activity, but becomes a communal and deeply rooted morning ritual into a tradition.
Mother bathed her child. In rural areas, it is common to find those who bathe in a spring or river - or draw water in their own wells before doing the morning rituals. Contrasted with the morning atmosphere of the city, the hunted of time and the traffic jam. For them, education is not just the values of the subjects.
I love Indonesia. The children who grew up in the village also had formal education as well as urban children, although sometimes had to face extra challenges. To be sure, simple classrooms have never been their reason for unhappiness.
Educating is about sharing experiences. Education is not just the values of the subjects or the rank in the class, but also about sharing experiences, traditions, and passion for the future.
Education is not just value on paper. Play with imagination
Play Stretch. Forget video games, computers, gadgets, or smartphones. Those products are already entering the village life, but not yet fully king. How could they have power if the electricity in the village alone could not always exist? But this does not then make the inhabitants feel less. They are rich with their own imagination and creativity.
Water gun. Which of us are still willing to make their own toys? Children who grow up in the city can more easily get the toys they want, because there's everything already provided by shops and supermarkets. But here, every toy is the fruit of their hands, the result of their imagination.
Play football in the fields. These kids also like football like us. The difference, they do not need a good shoe or a luxurious indoor field to play. What they need has been provided by nature itself.
Hunting in the river. For children in the countryside, playing is not just about spending time and having fun. Playing for them is an adventure, and every adventure has its own story.
Spear the fish. Playing time for children living in the village also means the time to learn to become an independent human being in the midst of carelessness of nature.
Playing water.
Leathered horse. For them, playing also means preserving the ancestral culture in every joint of their lives - the culture that we are now looking at. How many of our younger generation still play a cricket or a dakonan? Prayer in Work
Prayer in Work
A sip of water for your thirst. Through the lens of his camera, Ayima Darma managed to capture romance in the interaction between people in the village. Simplicity is an opportunity to chat with each other, care about one another. Here, it's rare to find people who keep their heads staring at the phone screen and ignore the interaction with the surroundings.
Although little by little their land is sold for industrial land or residence, some rural communities still earn a living by farming, raising, or catching fish. Just enough themselves and family.
Fishing. For them, working is not just about getting a profile. work is a spiritual practice that prioritizes harmony with nature. Nature is a precious treasure they have.
The attachment between man and nature.
Bathing the Rooster. In the village, a common pet is not a golden retriever or a Persian cat, but a chicken, a goat, and a water buffalo. These animals will not be fed as much as possible and injected hormone injected, but allowed to mingle with nature and maintained its health to be inherited.
Pets pet. These animals are also sharing friends, working partners, and places where humans learn to love their fellow beings and appreciate nature and its contents. Romanticism between simplicity.
Under the rain. Not all of them have a white-painted brick walled house: there are still only bamboo walls and thatched roofs. The simpler the human lifestyle, it seems, the less likely it is to complain.
Romanticism of simplicity. Because for them, the most important thing is the experience and willingness to share the romanticism of life in the midst of simplicity. It awakens us: there are always thousands of ways to be happy. Simplicity is not an obstacle to happiness; it is precisely that happiness comes because of simplicity. This is what often escapes us. Through their lives, we can learn a lot. All photos above are published under Ayima Darma's permission (@ ayi90). By .. @ ayi90 ..
