Do We All Need To Go Vegetarian?

There's already enough memes out there roasting vegans and vegetarians for their "tasteless" lifestyle and how they are missing out on all the delicious food in the world. But when you look at the statistics, you can clearly see how much harm we humans have already caused to our environment because of our livestock agriculture i.e. harvesting animals for food.

If that wasn't enough, non-vegetarianism is a growing trend in most of the developing countries. We are producing more meat-based food products than we did ever before. In China and India, only about 3-4% and 29-40% of the population follow a vegetarian diet.

Keep in mind that the two countries combined hold around 36.41% of the entire global population. Needless to say, that's a whole lot of people consuming meat on a daily basis. The numbers are even smaller for developed countries like USA (3%), South Korea (1%), Russia (3%), Spain (1.5%) and other countries accordingly.

Let's Look At The Statistics.

  • Our livestock agriculture is responsible for more than 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions, which is more than the combined emissions of all of the automobiles in the world.
  • The methane produced by the animals has 25 times more potential planet warming power than carbon dioxide.
  • One-third of the planet's arable land is used for livestock agriculture. Clearing land for this purpose not only wipes out all the tress, but also disturbs wildlife habitats.

So What Should We Do Instead?

Before you go all crazy and decide to never eat meat ever again, it's important to know that meat consumption is an essential part of a lot of people's daily diet and simply getting rid of it completely is easier said than done.

The best alternative to this problem is to slowly include more vegetarian food items as your daily diet and lessen your meat intake. Maybe even try having 2-3 days/week with 'veggies-only' diet. Try finding out vegetarian food items that contain the same nutritional value as your regular diet as a replacement.

The results might not show up instantly but adapted on a large scale, it's still a better option in the long run for our environment.

We all need to go Vegan instead of vegetarian.
Vegan is the best diet for human. Live life without cruelty.

I think it depends on your lifestyle. Vegan don't eat onions or garlic either but most of us do. The real deal is harvesting animals directly for food.

I am also a vegan since 2012. I have experienced many benefits on my spiritual journey after shifting to Vegan diet.

There is a point in your post, it will be good for us to follow vegetarian diet ,to eat someone's meat is the height of cruelty
