May She Rest in Peace

I was browsing through some old pictures and found one of my beloved cat, Sunshine. This picture brings back many fond memories of her. Every night, I'd find her crawling up onto my bed with me, and I'd wake up to her looking at me. And of all things, she loved being outside more than anything. Sometimes I would put her on a leash, and let her roam outside. Other times, she'd find her own way out. Then, at 9:00 at night, I'd hear her crying to come back inside. My cat, when she heard her food being poured, would run to her bowl like cats do in cat food commercials. Didn't matter where she was, she'd be there in an instant. And scarf it all down in one sitting. The whole bowl. These are just some of the things she loved.

Alas, the day came where I wouldn't see her again. She disappeared from my life, just as fast as she came to be someone I love. It happened because of someone else, too. My house had been broken into. The burglar made off with some valuables, but that did not matter. Sunshine was missing. After the criminal broke in, they left the door wide open, and she must have run outside. All the rest of that day, and all of that night, I got her food bowl, filled it up, and shook it thinking that she'll come back to eat. She never did. The pound didn't have her either. I lost something precious to me, all due to something I could have prevented. If I had only fixed the door, it wouldn't have given away as easily as it did. This all happened about 3 years ago. To this day, I still think about having her in my bed at night. Seeing her play with her yarn that she loved so much. Holding her close and feeling her purr. I wish I could have her back.

Rest in peace, Sunshine.

Unlike dogs, cats do not have a sweet tooth. Scientists believe this is due to a mutation in a key taste receptor.

It is always sad to lose a pet. I recently lost one as well.
