Many hate them whilst others like them, let me say love them.
Have you ever crawled on the floor on your bare stomach before, then you could wonder how snakes survive crawling on their bare body.
Snakes are creatures without limbs, so they need robust skin that can withstand constant friction. Some species of snakes climb up rough tree trunks, while others burrow into abrasive sand. What makes the skin of a snake so durable?
The skin of snakes can differ in thickness and structure from one species to another. Tho their skin may all have one thing in common: that is, the skin being firm on the outside and becomes softer toward the inside. This is an advantage to the snake in the sense that material that has a transition from astiff outside to a softer and flexible inside distribute an impacting force over a large area.
Durability is a vital property of snake skin because this allows it to move by craeting atraction between the body and the ground, also since snakes usually shed their skin almost every two to three months.
In science today, material with the property of snake skin is useful in the aspect of medicine. Especially in the production of slip-resistant and extra durable artificial implant.
