Are you always looking for something fun to do? Do you like the sound of discounted prices for these activities?
Have you heard of, or used the website Groupon? It is full of discounted tickets for almost anything you can think of. It is also a good place to get ideas of things to do in your area.
One day when browsing the site I came across tickets for cruises; wine and food cruises, overnight cruises, fishing cruises, and whale and dolphin watching cruises. As I love the ocean and being on boats I wanted to do one of these, so I asked my friend Felicia if her and her son, Hunter, would want to come on the whale and dolphin watching cruise with me. Our tickets were 68% cheaper by buying them through Groupon, and we had no issues directly booking the day and time we wanted with the cruise company. We booked with Davey's Locker, in Newport Beach, CA.

The day of our excursion we checked in and made our way to the dock to wait to board our boat. We watched the passing boats and seagulls fly by, there is such a relaxing atmosphere when you are next to the ocean, like time slows down here.

We boarded and took our seats at the side of the vessel for a good view over the water for any sightings we might have during our 2 hour cruise.

It wasn't too long before a pod of dolphins came over to say hello:

They followed at the side of the boat for a few minutes, one dolphin in particular followed so closely it allowed me to get a series of photographs as it jumped and dipped in and out of the waves:

I tried to get some good action shots as they jumped, but it was difficult as not only are the dolphins jumping, but the boat was constantly moving and swaying with the waves.

As we were about half way in to our cruise, the boat started to turn around to head back to shore, when in the distance we were told there was a Whale! Again I tried to get a photograph of its tail raising out the water, its grainy as I had to zoom in so much, but if you squint a little you can see the tail fin:

The boat took us back to shore and we departed relaxed and happy, even Hunter said what a fun afternoon he had on his first boat trip:

I'd recommend a cruise like this to anyone who enjoys the ocean and its wildlife. Even if you don't get to see dolphins or whales its still a lovely relaxing way to spend a couple of hours. And at less then $15 for an adult ticket, you can not complain about the price.
Check out Groupon for discounts on your favorite things, it may even give you some new ideas for activities to do!

Super cool! I have been wanting to do a 3/4 fishing trip. the Groupon code makes it way more affordable. Now I just need to get a fishing license (too bad groupon doesn't have discounts on those)

My friend did one of the night fishing trips and said how awesome it was, they had all the equipment provided...he didn't say anything about having to get a license for it. Maybe some companies don't require you to have one as they cover it :-/ or maybe I'm just outing him for breaking the law LOL

You can get a day license for about $15 (annual is around $45 for California residents). Most of the companies offer 'packages' that include equipment and a day license, but i don't see any discounts for those packages on groupon.

But thanks for the cost info. I want to try fishing this summer when camping near any lakes or rivers with fish. I just need a rod. Made the mistake of buying a 'pen rod' from Amazon last year. When it arrived I realized it was a toy for children! hahahaha!!
