The above quote came from Samuel Johnson's 30th essay published to The Idler, titled Corruption of news-writers. His shrewd and accurate observation has been repeated several times since.
If one can accept that in war, truth is always sacrificed, one must also accept, given the fact that the oxymoronic war on terror has been raging for several years, that since President Bush uttered the words...
"You're either with us, or with the terrorists..."
...we've heard nothing but lies and witnessed nothing but war.
War in Afghanistan. War in Iraq. War in Libya. War in Ukraine. War in Palestine. War in Syria. War in Yemen. War in Sudan.
There are many other conflicts. Of course there is also the global war on drugs. That's been going on for a while, presumably then, so have the lies. Funny, there never seems to be any less drugs around in society and the laundry services just keep paying the tiny fines and continue with business as usual.
I digress...we were speaking of lies and the war on terror.
Governments tell a lot of giant porkies...Iraq has WMD's!!! They also commit grevious atrocities against their own populations in order to manipulate them. And they fund the very terrorists they claim the wars must be fought to eradicate. I ask you, what of the millions of innocent people, including children, who are killed and maimed supposedly in pursuit of eradicating terror? Perhaps the architects of these monstrosities feel the dead can no longer experience terror. Perhaps they mean to save us from terror by killing all of us eventually.
Really, how can anyone believe wars can accomplish anything but more death and destruction? The only people who benefit are weapons manufacturers, resource plunderers, slavers, banks and those filled with the desperate need to acquire and use more power.
Now, as if the existing festering conflicts are not enough, they want moar war. I won't bother to qualify that statement, if you can't see that truth already, then perhaps nothing can reach you.
Will you join me in saying no to war? Say no to war...and the warmongers it rode in on!
Make love, not war.
Make a friend, not war.
Make circles in the sand, not war.
Make a naughty in your pants, not war.
Make some noise, not war.
Make someone laugh, not war.
Make a film, not war.
Make something grow, not war.
Make music, not war.
Make amends, not war.
Make peace, not war.
Make anything but war.
Say no to war. Let's remove the ultimate source of terror and dominion and then try to deal with the remaining problems.
If you made it this far, I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in designing a simple yet impactful "say no to war" badge that Steemians can publish at the bottom of their posts. Let me know if you are interested in the comments.
Happy Steeming

Thank you mars9! Just so sick of war and lies but more than that, so sad for those directly caught up in it.

Yes peace please! banks have to loose their power along with all the other people that only go for profit. That created an abnormal society. Actually didn't want to call it sick society but money behaves like a virus in the mind.

Totally! When money is stolen for power and misallocated by power, everything it touches turns to foulness.

I hate war my friend. @benjojo, i was thinking about Erica this morning. I wish I could have more babies to make my life crazier. I love that new baby smell. I used to spend hours watching baby Daniel and baby Harvey sleep. They are so precious. We need more babies in the world, so they can rule the world. Your friend from California.

You are so right bud, that new baby smell and watching the little mites sleep really puts things into perspective. Can you think of any greater purpose in life than making the world a better place for them.....all of them? I can't. Big love bud.

My son falls alseep on my chest almost every night, and it warms my heart. I wish I had enough steem to love a few more babies in this world. I love the constant race my friend. I was thinking about that new baby in the house and how it changes everything. Babies are like little heaters and they have so much strength. I used sit and watch both my sons cry. The cry of a newborn baby is so darn cute
