Bonjour @pickoum.

Whilst out and about bleujay came across this interesting comment section....perhaps it will assist in understanding the developing stance toward spam.

From @meesterboom's latest post.....

I found out I am not as nice as I thought dealing with the spam commenters. I totally understand if someone doesn't speak English but I know many non english speakers that use a translator and never have asked me for a vote or help. Now they have a higher rep than me and some are very famous on steemit. So I post this at the bottom of every article.

I will flag comment spam at 1% strength. If you keep on spamming my post I will flag you at 100%. I don't care if you have limited English abilities write a couple sentences about this article, no copy-paste please. I will flag: one sentence comments, links to your blog and begging for up-votes and follows. Also I will flag comments that have nothing to do with my blogs article. I will also check your comment section to see if you have been comment spamming on other blogs.
Sadly most won't read my article or translate it and are now getting flagged.

I do exactly the same! I am not as civilised as you and dont even warn them. I laid off for this post though because of the entertainment value given what the post is about hehe.

I think if more and more of us do this kind of thing we can help clean up this awful annoying behaviour

I think the higher our rep number the more responsibility we need to take on helping improve the Steemit platform. I'm not a programmer or a social engineer, this is my little way of helping out. Sometimes I post a simple article and let everyone do their thing just for the kicks and giggles. But even that isn't fun anymore. So, I pretend I am my Zen teacher and use the zen wake-up stick...wack! Wack! on the head.... It really dosn't hurt but it does wake you up...hahaha

The Zen wake up stick is what is needed most! Yes, I do agree. I occasionally police some of the new posts to try and catch them early but there is a torrent now so catch them via the lure of my blog. I think because I am a cheery soul they think I am an easy mark. Lol, not for long thought :O)

Copied with @reddust's permission....
You are correct in that each must deal with it as they deem best.

All the best to you and @lajulius.

Of course everyone has to deal with it as he wants, it's not really that bother me. It is rather all this war that goes around all that and rotted the platform.

I do not think that the level of reputation of a user gives him the right to think that he is investing a "mission" of cleaning just because he has been listed earlier on Steemit and had more ease to gain power, that's not what will encourage newcomers to stay on Steemit.

As I said I just agree flagging for real spammers told everyone you made the best post of the year and no upvote or for weblink-poster but not for those who beg, do you strike those who beg for alms inthe street? I don't think so...

Maybe I am not the target of spammers enough to understand your point of view.

I hope all of this will calm down soon enough.

See you soon my friend.
All the best!
