It's 6am and the alarm goes off. The first thing you do is press the snooze button and say to yourself, "5 more minutes. "Now, it's 6:05am and the alarm goes off again and you say to yourself, "Just 10 more minutes." Ten more minutes turns into 20 minutes, and now you quickly leap out of bed, rushing into the shower. You're constantly looking at the time on your cellphone making sure you get out of the house on time. "Okay, I have 3 minutes to get dressed, 3 minutes’ equals 180 seconds, I can do this.” You're feeling optimistic as you start counting, "1,2,3,4, etc." You manage to get dressed and ready at exactly 180 seconds, you rush out the door yelling, "I love you," to your kids and husband, and on your way you go. You walk into work, more like speed walking, and you clock in right on time. "Phew, that was close." Does this scenario sound familiar?
According to Sleep Junkie, "more than 53.86% of American feel 'dreadful' when they hear the alarm go off." So why do people dread the sound of the alarm? I personally think it has to do with the fact that people are stuck in 9-5 jobs that don't serve them anymore. Now don't get me wrong, lack of sleep can play a part here, but when you read, that Gallup polled in 2017, that more than 85% of people hate their jobs you have to link the 2 together.
Here are some tips if you are not happy with your 9-5?
• Do what makes you happy
Have you ever heard of the saying, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”-Confucius?
I couldn’t agree anymore with this quote. Imagine how it will feel to wake up when the alarm goes off, to a job, a career, you love. Wouldn’t you feel excited to get out of bed, or even happy to start your day? When you make your passion your job, you will be living a better life, a life of happiness, a life of positivity. You will be a better mom, spouse, friend, a better person in general. So the best thing you can do for yourself, is to find out what makes you happy and make it your life’s work.
• Believe in yourself
Sometimes your passion might not even seem like a real job to you, or to others. This is when you really have to have faith in yourself and your passion. Start by digging deep inside of you and list all the pros that your passion can do for you and for others.
I have learned, that we are here to make the world better through our talents, passions, and gifts. Don’t let fears, naysayers, or doubt stop you from living your best life.
