Just relieved

Let me start by saying I have lived in Colorado my whole life and have been driving for a very very long time. So today I leave Utah to drive home to Denver Colorado. No problem I drive all the time . all the time like 2000 miles a week. I leave around 1 in the afternoon,figure I will be home about 7ish. I am driving a rental car, a rented prius. I think okay, great gas mileage. I pass through Glenwood Canyon, I hit rain. No big deal. As I start to approach Vail, cdot says I-70 closed at Vail pass. I wait. Opened in about one hour.

I started to drive home. Icy and snowpacked conditions. I have driven hundred maybe thousands of times in the snow and down the mountain. No problem. Today problem. First a prius not a snow car. As I started to drive now I am in the slow lane and every tractor trailer is stopped in that lane so I have to get the fast lane so I can keep going. As I do that the snow the two inches of snow and the ice is too much for my little car and I spin out in the left lane almost get hit twice and stop all traffic on I-70. I was terrified. Okay I try to pull myself together and get my car going the right direction we're all going again. This time not me someone else spins out in front of me. Everyone's okay no collisions no crashes. It's getting later and later. I'm driving about 10 miles an hour and that seems fast.

I have never lost it behind the wheel of a car. This was the most intense Drive of my life. I was scared to death. I finally was able to get off at exit 203 and just stop.

So thankful to finally be able just to stop and I catch my breath. just so relieved that nobody was hurt me or anybody else. Just relieved......

I tried a couple more times last night to come down the mountain and decided I'll just wait it out. I got to see the beautiful sunrise this morning as I came down the mountain and finally got home.
