The quickest way to self-pity is to compare yourself with another person. Even worse is to compare yourself with established personalities like music stars, movie stars, beauty queens and established businessmen and women who are public figures. Regardless of whether they are your contemporary or not, never compare yourself with others. The reason is that they did not get to that position in a day; you must remember that some of them worked hard to get there, others were fortunate to have an already established background that helped them pull through the ranks, yet still some got there by crooked means.

If you are obsessed about the perceived beauty of certain stars and beauty queens, remember too that they have professional assistance that make them look flashy and extra-gorgeous. Still, the use of modern technology may make them more beautiful than they really look, thus the use of photo software to enhance their beauty, shape and skin tone should not put you off so that you lose your self-esteem and confidence. If you strive to be like them without these supports, you will always fall short resulting to poor self-confidence.

In business, the same is true, do not compare your business with others, the better option is to seek to emulate the strategies of other business organizations if you become privy to their strategy, but never compare. It always results in negative feelings and might plunge you into depression that can eventually affect your business.
