I have long held the unpopular position that minimum wages is bad for workers. I was told that since I didn’t have a “Business Degree” I was ignorant of the facts and that I had no clue, and didn’t know what I was talking about. I was called a fool and accused of being heartless.
The facts have come out and the evidence speak for itself and what I feared would happen did happen. In the City of Seattle were they passed the first $15 minimum wage law the average worker has lost an average of $125 a month in pay. Because of the increase in minimum wage, small businesses have…cut peoples hours…decided not to hire… stopped hiring and the best of all they have just fired employees because they just can’t afford to pay the increase.
I know people had the best intentions at heart but: 'l'enfer est plein de bonnes volontés ou désirs', which translates as ‘hell is full of good intentions and wishes’.
So the next time some liberal comes up with a “good” idea…think…think again…think 1 more time…then through the idea in the trash where it belongs.
