How to Teach Yourself a Lesson in Patience

in life •  3 years ago

"A lesson in patience." Those words were spoken by Tom W. Stafford, and they have stuck. I found a website that gives lessons in patience. It provides instruction on how to teach yourself patience.

There is a good lesson here in teaching yourself patience. You can go into the classroom, or your class room, and just ignore your classmates and the instructor. No one will try to teach you anything. They will all be so busy looking at their watches, picking their noses, thumbing through their fingers, mumbling under their breath, filling their airways with commentary, that you will hardly notice them. Your mind will be thinking only of your own irritation with the class.

So, how do you break this bad habit? The first step is to take the class seriously. If you don't treat the teacher with respect, then there is no way you will ever get the lesson across to your classmates. If you are not sure how to do that, then the Internet is an invaluable resource for understanding how to effectively interact with others.

Secondly, don't give up. A lesson in patience is simply not possible if you expect it to come quickly. Patience is a state of mind, and it takes time for it to develop. Expecting it to come all at once is just not realistic.

Thirdly, set up a plan of action. What are going to learn today, and what are we going to do tomorrow? Write these down. Then, as you practice more patience, see where you went wrong. When you know exactly what you are going to do, you will find that your fear of making a mistake is greatly diminished.

As a final thought, a lesson in patience requires commitment. Don't expect miracles. You can't teach someone to be patient all the time. However, by practicing constantly, and seeing yourself as your student, you will eventually master the art of patience.

I hope that you will use these tips while you practice patience. These techniques are just some of the many ways you can increase your patience. Some other strategies include visualizing your own end result, and positive thinking. By applying new strategies and tactics to your daily life, patience becomes easier to manage.

So what are you waiting for? Practice a lesson in patience every day. Tell yourself that this time is going to be different, and soon enough you will see results coming to the surface. It will be well worth it!

Don't make yourself feel like a disappointment. Treating yourself like a student is a great way to get better at anything. The more you practice, the better you will become at it. Take it from someone who has learned how to treat himself!
