Are We Our Parents' Healers?

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Our relationships with our parents often present us with our biggest challenges in life. These challenges can also be our greatest catalyst for growth.

Do we choose our parents?

I think we do. I think I chose this DNA, these genes, this story line to be born into. In my life, I've found that I am the uplifter, the healer, and the advice giver in the relationship. And it seems this is quite common. Our ancestry seems to have a story line of its own for this planet. Each ancestral line has a certain set of things to work out and also a certain set of gifts that it brings to the world.

As different as we seem from our parents and our ancestry, this is the story line we take up. Our wounds can be our greatest gifts, and likewise our gifts can be our greatest wounds. In fact, they seem to go hand in hand in this life.

When we do our own healing, not only do we heal our ancestry going forward in the future for our offspring, but it seems we heal the whole line.

Each bloodline has its own "stuff." A trauma that a grandmother experienced 200 years ago is handed down to her children and on and on and on down. One trauma 200 years ago becomes a way of being in the world for the family. As different as we think we are from our relatives, our relatives are our jumping off point. They program our nervous systems. However, what we really are is much bigger than that. Ultimately, we're everything. And the bigness of that everything, that Source energy that we are only tells itself for the duration of our lifetime that these genes and this story and this programming is what we are. But some of us break the story apart. Even the smallest crack is bound to get larger. The light of the everything of who we are, Source, can shine through even the tiniest crack and do major transformational work. The tie between us and our relatives is strong. You could say that when one person heals, the field is effected and all are healed and expanded. However, the tie between us and our relatives seems to be particularly strong.

When we heal, we change how our genes respond. Bruce Lipton, Cell Biologist, has studied this at length, and you can read about it in his book The Biology of Belief.

When we heal our wounds and make the most of our gifts, this is an example for our relatives. They may be able to recognize theirs. But even if we have no relationship with our relatives, there is still change. Words and physicality are only one small part of what's going on. Stuff really happens in the field, the nonphysical. What we're really doing is moving energy. When we see a family fear or limiting belief for what it is with clarity and we shine the light of Source on it, one could say that that will affect the whole line.

Ancestral work is powerful work. But all healing we do for ourselves is ancestral healing. And beyond that, all our healing affects the whole.

Aren't we here to make the most of our circumstances? Aren't we here to use the tools that were afforded to us by our bloodlines for our greatest expansion? Whatever you were handed, you can make the most out of it. And when you do, the effects are felt by all.

it is nice that you have thrown the spotlight on an important duty that all human beings must carry out.

in the hindu philosophy, on an appointed day during the year we pray for our ancestors right up to our great grandparents. there are certain rites and rituals that are done using mantras to ensure that they feel the positive effects of what we do.

in other words, we are creating a ripple that will extend outwards touching the past and with the future as the center. healing is a continuous process like you have mentioned.

In fact the spanish have a very interesting ritual that welcomes ancestors to come and visit them as part of the healing process.

I love how you always come by and share about Hindu philosophy. I really appreciate it because I'm really intrigued by the religion, culture, and philosophy. Thanks!

They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

This is my dad's favorite saying. :)

Aren't we here to make the most of our circumstances?

I do think that is the best mindset people should have in life. It doesn't matter if the circumstances are good or bad, I think the best way to go on with our daily activities is to try to make the best we can with what we have available, usually good results will follow if we do this.

Cheers @brightstar!

usually good results will follow if we do this.

Indeed! It's the only way good results can follow!

sweet post @brightstar. I was just chatting about this recently & I have noticed that not only are we healing the family tree but as our parents grow older they become our children

Right?! I asked a yogi friend of mine about seemingly reversed roles with my parents. I told him I've always felt like more of the parent. He said he's always learning from his children and that it's natural. I think it probably is!

yes it all makes sense what you say.. endless spirals of existence

Highly rEsteemed!
