Traveling doesn't have to be expensive and it's not, if you know the right hacks & strategies to get the biggest bang for your buck.

Here are 10 travel hacking strategies that you can't live without, because they are just so awesome.

1) Book Flights 330 Days Before Traveling

Airline tickets will be open 330 days before your travel date. If you get in right away, you could snag the early tickets which will be cheaper than the later ones.

This hack would be more valid if you are planning on to attend a big world level event. In that case, if you book later, you won't just have to deal with the sky high ticket pricing. You might even fail to get a ticket at all.

2) If Not 330 Days, Then 6 Weeks

Let's be honest, not everyone can manage to get in super early and manage to lock on the early bird pricing. Even if you set reminders, sometimes life just happens and you might forget or get drifted away.

In that case, the best option would be to wait. You'll find that ticket pricing begins to drop 6 weeks prior to the departure date when airlines are looking to fill the empty seats.

3) Budget Airlines Are The Way To Go

If you're from Asia, then Air Asia is your go-to airline. However, if you can't find what you are looking for with Air Asia which is highly unlikely, then check out Tiger Airways.

If you are from America, you can checkout JetBlue and Frontier.

Here are more budget airlines that you might wanna check out: JetStar, Ryanair, EasyJet

4) Earn and Use Frequent Flyer Miles To Fly (ALMOST FREE)

Flights often account for the costliest aspect of traveling. However, you can cut that expense by using frequent flyer miles.

There are a lot of ways through which you can earn them, so you don't have to fly all the time to do that.

5) Fly On A Tuesday or Wednesday

Due to lack of business travelers on Tuesday, the ticket prices are often the lowest. So if your trip allows for flexibility, hop on a plane on Tuesdays.

The second best day to travel is the day next to it, Wednesday.

6) Rent An Apartment

If you are staying in an area for over 2 days, renting an apartment will save you money along with giving you access to amenities that you won't find in a hotel.

Renting an apartment would be especially beneficial for large groups and will result in saving a lot of money.

The best sites to rent apartments are: AirBnb, VRBO, Homeaway and GoWithOh

7) Choose Hostels and Local Guesthouses Over Hotels

Staying at a hostel or a local guest house rather than in a hotel won't only save you money, but will help you in connecting with other travelers.

Not to mention that your money will support locals rather than those big corporations.

You can use sites like Hostel bookers or Hi Hostels.

8) Eat Your Big Meals At Lunch

Dinners are always more expensive than lunch, so fill your stomach during lunch. You can grab something small for dinner.

9) Eat At A Local Place

Reasons to eat at a local place you ask? Here you go:

  1. Food tastes better
  2. It's cheap (of course)

Places that serve foreign food aren't just costlier, their food also doesn't taste nearly as good as in a local place.

10) Check For A Monthly Rail Pass For Tourist

Various countries and regions offer rail passes especially for tourists that give you quite a good discount if you're traveling a lot at that time.
