Our King sits on the Dutch throne for exactly 5 years and tomorrow we will celebrate King's Day with the whole country. Festivities throughout the country and a day off for all Dutchies!

5 years king is also 5 years head of state. WA has many obligations at home and abroad and representative functions, and together with our Queen Maxima he also gives substance to the monarchy. At the inauguration in 2013 and at the abdication of former Queen Beatrix WA said: You are a symbol but you have to have relevance.

He has relevance and is a smart educated man.
Every week at the same time, he meets with our Prime Minister Marc Rutte at work palace Noordeinde Palace. Furthermore, there are of course the state visits with always an important ceremonial character but also a trade background. With every trip they will try to promote our country. Photo moments are protocol. Below are a number of highlights from our king over the last 5 years.

The Christmas speech is one of the most important speeches that our sovereign gives every year. In this speech he can take a personal note that his mother did not do. That makes him more human and approchable.
About 84% of his performance as a king is 84% satisfied in the Netherlands.

That's a great figure and although many say that his wife Maxima also has a big share in it, I want to say: Get on, it's not an easy task, and you can never make everyone happy!
