There is no logical reason to promote spanking that I can think of. I do understand why so many people still do it though. Mental conditioning from childhood is hard to get rid of as an adult. It takes a lot of courage for one to go back into their own life and face the fact that they were abused by parents that they most likely still love very much. The emotions that brings up are very powerful and difficult to work through. Good post, thanks for sharing.

Imagine being spanked by a friend (in a non-sexual context) - that is simply not how friends behave. Yet somehow people are supposed to accept it as loving, positive behaviour from parents and even other family. Attempting to reconcile that is quite schizophrenic.
