Last night I helped to host an event called a People’s Kitchen at a cool little community centre in Nottingham.
The Sumac Centre is a hub for various types of activism. It’s remit includes (but is not limited to) “social justice, environmental issues, peace and animal rights”.

Every Saturday night they invite various groups to cook a ‘pay what you can’ meal, with any profits being taken by the group to further their activism.
We chose to support the East Midlands Vegan Challenge, which I had helped to organise in January. The EMVC ran local Veganuary support events in Leicester, Nottingham and Derby.
We put together a three course menu for the event.
Spicy Butternut-Squash Soup
No image available :-( It was all eaten too quick.
Chilli sin Carne (Veggie Chilli)
Chocolate Brownies
The evening was a big success and we catered for more than 30 people, raising £90 in the process.
