Tiger Even Par After Day 1 of the PGA Championship

It was a rough start for Tiger Woods this morning at the PGA Championship. Tiger started on the back nine today and opened his round with a bogey, followed promptly by a double bogey. Plus three after two holes is not how you want to start your day. Tiger was not hitting the ball well and lacked control. It looked like his tournament was going to end before it even got started.

As the back nine progress, things started to come together for Tiger and he began clawing back the strokes he had given up on those first two holes. As Tiger rounded the bend and headed to the front nine he had gain one stroke back and sat at two over.

The front nine went much better for Tiger. Birdies on one and eight brought Tiger back to even and the bogey free second half of his day kept him there. Right now the leader is sitting at minus six and it looks like those first two holes could come back to haunt Tiger as the tournament progresses. There is a big difference between being three behind the leader and six back.

Tiger will be looking to build off the second half of his day heading into tomorrows action and if he can put together a decent round he can still be a factor on the weekend.
