I pretty mych binge watched the 2nd season of Squid game on Friday starting the previous night watching the first 4 episodes and finishing the last 3 after waking up around noon. I did watch the English dubbed version just out of convenience and unlike season 1, this didn't bother me as they did a better job this time. Overall I enjoyed watching it but was left underwhelmed and not really satistified. It basically was only half a season which didn't even end that big of a cliffhanger. The first couple episodes happened outside of the games and it felt like they could have been done shorter. Once the games started it was pretty much a copy of the 1st season with similar type characters. As it's hard for me to distinguish faces, I wasn't fully sure about the identity of player
001 even though I got a hunch that it was the brother / Fame leader from season 1.
This also was an issue when players started to get killed as I just forgot who they were exactly. I liked the twist that the main character got back in the game to end them early and how he tried to help everyone in the Red Light Green Light game. I made no sense that so many panicked and started running once they say people who moved were getting killed though. It equally did not make sense that half more than of them wanted to continue and that the main character didn't use the argument that the games got harder and more random as they went along to make sure onlu 1 survived in the end.
One of the things I looked forward to were new games and there pretty much only were 2 of those in the entire season. I liked the 3rd game more than the 2nd but overall they were pretty ok. The last part where players tried to grab the guns from the guards was also something that I wondered for a long time in 'why don't they try that' and the inside view of one of the guards mainly was confusing and did not make most sense why she was doing it.
So overall I still enjoyed watching it and never was bored but overall was underwhelmed as it really felt like a rather uninsipired copy-paste scenario made just for the money and to get a 3rd season.
New Day Goals: I plan to meet up with some friends to go for a long walk so I'm up early as we start around 11:00 in a location which is a 25 minute drive. Aside from this I probably won't do too much.
