Movie #42: Nosferatu (6.4/10)
More than anything, I just went to the movies with a good friend yesterday which it was more about than the actual movie. I know Robert Eggers as a Director and have The Witch which I liked but don't know anything about anymore. The Lighthouse was one of those films that I did not end up finishing as it was just not my thing. So I had low expectations around Nosferatu going in with the only knowledge that it was about vampires and that it likely would be well done visually.
Just how beatifully shot this film is really impressed me as every single shot and setting for the 2+ hour runtime pretty much was a piece of art. That is also the thing I enjoyed the most looking at the images and cinematography. I would be surprised if this doesn't win an oscar in this categrory. This said, the entire story just didn't connect with me and I found some of the acting overly dramatic. I noticed my thoughts wondering around a lot during the movie and I kind of was glad to see the end credits after 2+ hours. So to me the entire story kind of was a tool to bring extremely impressive visuls while I'm someone who tends to put most importance on the story or small lines of dialogues that hit and stick with me. That's how I would sum it up, it's a great movie but not for me even though I'm glad that I watched it.
To give some more info. It is a remake of the original vampire movie and nosferatu is from what I've seen the romanian word for vampire.
New Day Goals: I don't really have that many goals on Monday, something in me already wants to start a new hot yoga year today but knowing myself I will likely just procrastinate it a bit more. The main aim will be not to exagerrate in poor eating habits and get all my bookkeeping done.
