Respectful Dialogue

in life •  6 years ago

I must confess I am very happy with the conversations I had with other steemians on my previous post. My message was clear but firm, because I believe that without respect as a priority we are not able to establish anything meaningful relationships, they are just not productive.

But the response I got from people was very positive, even from those who disagreed with my positions. Honestly this is all I was asking for. All I think we owe each other is the respect to treat each other as fellow humans, not just avatars on a screen.

I don’t want anyone to think that I learned nothing from the comments and that I believe only my side of things to be correct. If anything I finally understood some of the logical concerns some people were trying to tell me, but failing to do so. I would say that most conversations broke down right after insults were thrown around, and that is not surprising.

I especially want to recognize @d-pend since he has shown by example how we should address disagreements with each other. He took the time to explain to me his position, share his experience, and at no point in time resorted to ad hominem attacks or passive aggressive behaviors. This to me signals maturity and experience, and I’m grateful for his kindness.

I guess my point is simple today, I’m feeling grateful for the dialogue and hope that we don’t default back to negativity, even in disagreements. I’ve never claimed to be the holder of truth, and at the same time, I don’t believe that imposing positions on each other is healthy for either side.

So believe me when I say we have made progress as a community, as small as it may look for some. And I am feeling pretty grateful.

As always, all the best

In reality it is not that they are not productive, it is that a relationship without respect is nothing, a conversation without respect is nothing.
The truth I have not read your previous post to comment or comment on him, but what is certain is that no matter our position or how much we think that the other is wrong, the important thing is to put on the shoe of the other person to try to understand why he thinks in one way or another, and in many cases we have to understand that the battle is lost to foolish people, who do not accept comments from others and resort to insults to feel winners.
In reality, the real gain is to learn from the opinions of others, to take their visualization in order to work on improving ours.
The truth is very relative, depends on a very subjective view of the world and situations ... THERE IS NO ABSOLUTE TRUTH
Everyone believes in their truth, in their world, but is surrounded by thousands of people in their worlds and the only way to progress is to coexist.

I was very grateful for the interactions that were had on your last post. The way you responded showed me a lot about your character and I walked away from the situation with a better understanding of the intentions behind your style of using STEEM.

People complain a lot about bid bots and vote buying, but I think the beautiful thing about this blockchain is the sense of radical freedom. There are a million different ways to use Steemit and that makes it a more exciting place!

If there are major imbalances, the best way to fix them is on a chain level with a hard fork, or by building layers on top that are opt-in like @steem-ua. It's a little silly to blame people for using tools that exist because they are profitable under current rules.

Have a great rest of your day @chbartist :-)

Thank you again for your comment @d-pend certainly you are one of the nicest people i've had the pleasure to meet on this platform. have a beautiful day yourself.

I’m glad I talked to you myself and didn’t listen to what other people had to say who were judging without direct knowledge. I hope I can keep an open mind no matter how old I get physically. I can tell you are a good person.

I can say the same about you. It does not matter if you are younger because when we have intelligence and wisdom that comes naturally with life we always have what we learn from other people and it does not matter if they are younger or not.

I had gone through your comment that you leave on previous post of @chbartest thanks for your valuable words. The lines you wrote was self explanatory there was a massage in that comment. All information was given through the help of that comment was very valuable thanks for your time to writing such type of amezing comment. I find all the information is related with our life. Thanks again @d-pend

I think use of voteing bots is not bad because
Now days it is a way to promote your valuable content and share you valuable words with other steamiens because use of bots give attention to the post. Bots help to bring our quality content to the eye of others.

@ajsharma333

I don't think you considered the situation of bidbots/self-voting since you seem to think that it can be fixed through code changes. Yes, maybe with tools that empower everyone we can address those issues, yet by making the tools it's no guarantee that they in turn won't be abused. In the real world, a weapon can be used for profit regardless if the profit was from Self Defense or Robbery. So on here, abusing something is never going to be fixed by code, as those that are entrusted to Protect in the real world can use their authority, power, and tools to destroy, regardless of the immemorial laws which exist.

Yes, but you can build a system in which manual curation is more profitable than any form of automation. I'm not saying it would be easy, it would be extremely difficult. But I believe it is possible, though it might require absolute identity verification like some sort of DNA-computer interfacing which is obviously not available to the general public. I also think it would require a hybrid linear/superlinear rewards algorithm. You are correct that any tool can be abused, and it's a developer's job to forsee as many possible avenues of abuse and prevent against them. No system will ever be perfectly resistant to manipulation because humans will always find new ways to be devious.

So until this almost impossible thing happens we can't blame people for abusing the system, correct?

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

What's your view? I've never heard of blame being productive for much of anything, but I'm open to hearing your perspective on the situation.

Blame is the other side of the coin from justify. You cannot have one without the other, so is shame to honor and condemnation to commend, and while it will be nice if we hadn't the need for those words in our world, as it stands there's plenty of times when things aren't justifiable, or honorable or commendable, and I'm one to call it as I see it.

Blame gives people a chance to correct themselves and if you don't extend that chance how or why should they change? It's not as if failure isn't the best opportunity to learn, and blame is simply pointing at a failure.

@chbartist As per my point of view and you opinion in this post , Honesty is the best policy, even it is more difficult in this world. After reading your several post I found that your word comes from your heart and you are honest with yourself.

People always respect the word from heart and as human there is always space for healthy argument. If we not argue or not put our point of view, we will be like a frog in the well.

Off course nobody holds the truth but nobody knows the everything. With the help of healthy argument and avoid negative people and their opinion we can help each other with opinion and build a healthy community.

Thank you for your kind words. You have understood exactly what I want to share and about being honest with myself I can assure you that I have built my life by always being honest with myself and with people. To reach our goals we do not need to climb into other people's heads. Regards

Hi @Chbartist,
I would like to inform you that. On your posts only I see most of the STEEMIT members try to upvote each other.
What does it means?
All the articles posted by you about positive thinking and helping each other already started working.
If this same changes will be seen in all other posts. Then you will be the only person to be appreciated for this.
I am continuously following you. And I can clearly see the change among STEEMIT member because of your articles.
And I always say your article motivates many STEEMIT members to be positive and try to help others as much as possible.
I always wait for your motivational articles.
Thanks.

Exactly, I've been insisting on people voting on each other's comments because I understand that people who dedicate their time to make comments based on the post deserve at least the respect and receive something for the time they dedicated to comment. I have also seen this change and I am very happy to see people with 5,6,7,8 upvotes of all who participate here in my blog. For me this is the true way to build a community and so am I do not like and do not agree with the flags, but I will still write in another post about it. For now the important thing is that people understand exactly what I'm trying to promote here that is simply that some help others.

Truth be told, though i am new but so far i have read through peoples posts, it is only in @chbartist post that i see almost everyone upvoting one another on steemit

Yes, we have to give respect to each and every human being. Thou there will be different views and conflict but that doesn't mean we have to be oppressive.

Butter comes after churning the milk.

A good healthy discussion and argument are always benefited by both. But the culprit is ego that comes in between.

"it is that a relationship without respect is nothing, a conversation without respect is nothing."
This all can be possible if we are humble and egoless. This culprit ego never let us listen to others and never let us understand others. It is always "I" that want to make right.
Some people want to hurt @chbartist reputation, if you do not agree with him it is always welcome that you discuss with him and make your point. As far I know him that he will understand. Let we show some maturity and keep aside all the ego and work together to make a better community.

Beautiful comment! I agree with you. There is a lot of ego in all of this. But I'm still with mine in place. LOL Let's go! Thank's for your time

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

I also want to appreciate @chrbartist, the man who ignited this dialogue and we all learnt a new perspective we may have ignored or never knew that it existed.

What I have learnt from your series of post I have been putting into practice
both on this platform and in my every day life , and I must confess I am seeing positive result, I don't have much steem yet but I can see the increase in my reputation.

Each and every one of us, carries a unique experience and we can only get to appreciate it when we interact constructively with ourselves. The level of maturity displayed by my fellow steemians on this platform has shown that STEEMIT has evolved beyond infancy stage and we can only be grateful to our fellow steemians from all nations present and the developer's of this platform.

Finally, May we be the light we seek in other's because their is strength in unity of purpose.

Exactly my friend. People who read my previous posts will realize that there are many teachings that I am sharing for them to apply in their lives. I am not the owner of the truth but I am trying to share events that I am sure many people will still see in their lives and I try to tell people what worked for me. Whether or not they will apply theirs is a decision of each person. I wish you the best!

We may not always agree with every one of our neighbors, friends or co-worker. That's life. But it doesn't mean that we start heating them it's part of living we have to be mutual respectful.

Mutual respect! That's what it takes to be friends or beloved one.

Most of the relationship and friendships are based on mutual respect and mutual understanding.

Mutual respect it could be seen everywhere at home or as well as office or your work place. Give respect to other if you want to receive it.

It's great you got good response from other people in order to build a positive community. It's great it can be seen on your previous posts comments how people are supporting each other and trying to share there views and opinion.

@chbartist I especially go to your last post where you had a conversation with @d-pend when I read that post and after that the comment by @d-pend I really got some valuable things which is very helpful in our life.

You are doing great in order to build a positive people community. You also getting a good response from hello steemians. It could be seen in the comments where everyone express there feeling and participate in the discussion positively and comment accordingly and every positive comment get 9-12 votes .

That time is not so far when there is a big community of positive people

@asks

Exactly my friend, as I said in a previous response to someone else who commented on this post: I've been insisting on people voting on each other's comments because I understand that people who dedicate their time to make comments based on the post deserve at least the respect and receive something for the time they dedicated to comment. Yes of course waiting for your next awesome article. Keep posting such types of positive article to spread positivity in steemit community
@asks

I completely agree with you upon this matter.
Respect should be the priority. It doesn't matter if you show favour for someone or not,but you should respect everyone. Everyone deserves here respect and positive behaviour.

Exactly! Have a good day!

@chbartest I'm very happy to see that your hardwork is paying off. I really appreciate your work in order to create a community of positive people. I especially encourage you efforts to give rewards to the people who gave their time to your post and write a comment according to the post and express their views. You are doing such a great job. Your efforts are pretty much awesome 😍😘

Now days it is very hard to get people's attention when it is about positivity. You are doing very well. Keep writing these types of motivational article to bring change in the people's mentality.

I read your conversation with @d-pend really it was amezing, very helpful to understand people's intention how they think about you. I showed your hard work how people are interested on your article.

@ajsharma333

Thank you friend! Have a good day!

Sam to you @chbartist

It's always good to come to terms with people we've had issues with irrespective of how big or small it is. So glad you have have restored peace and embraced dialog.

All the best to u tooo....

Thank you @mharjit

Your well come sir....

Disagreement should not turn into disrespectful behavior. We can never agree with someone or someone can never agree with us in all matters and in every sphere of life. Everyone has his/her own opinion and way of thinking. Sometimes we may be wrong and the other person may be right and vice-versa but this should not be a matter of personal attacks. Respect is a mutual thing. We need to respect others in order to expect respect from them. @d-pend is a very nice person. I like his poem very much. Nice post from you also dear @chbartist.

Thank you my friend! good see you...

You i totally appriciate your post. Both of you respectable for us.Respect is more important in our life. You respect others.Others respect u.without respect life is nothing.Positive attitude is also important in our life.Positive attitude always attracts to others.such a valuable and helpful post. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for read! Regards!

In my very ones point of views are important and we should respect that. But some we should show disagreements because every time we don’t have right thinking therefore disagreement is important but if you are a bigger person then others then others have some fear to show there disagreements.

Thank you for your time and comment! Regards

It’s an honour to read your blog. I like your thoughts Therefore I read your each and every blog since I join the steemit platform

Respect is very important part in life. We must respect everyone's thought even if we don't agree with them. Everyone has his own thought process and sometimes conflict is obvious. Your thoughts are amazing and each and every post of yours come with motivation and full of knowledge. This is what I like most.

Thank you. Regards!

It is important for people to understand that we should always have respect for everyone. We might have differences of opinions with others because everyone thinks differently but people should realize that while expressing their point of view, they should never be oppressive in any kind of way.

Thank you!

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

@chbartist, that is why the gift of the word (and communication in general) becomes one of the most beautiful, reinforcing the respect between each and every one.

By the way, here what I have made thinking about other of your excellent posts.

Thank you for these wonderful thoughts!

Thank you friend! All the best!

✌😘

Mutual respect is the foundation of a strong community and without it, one cannot imagine progress, even if someone disagrees with another there are always ways to express and address those disagreements without insult and misbehaving. As it is rightly said

If you want to go fast go alone but, if you want to go far go together.

Forgive guys if I have missed something. You all have a great day ahead.

Thank you.

Thank you!

True words my friend

To go a long way in life we need relationship with our friends. And that is positivity and mutual respect which can help us to build a strong relationship between us.Not a big deal though.Just i have to respect other and in return i also will find respect or may be anything more.

Exactly. All the best!

You sir,and d-pend Sir are personalities of both generous individuals.

I appreciate your words but I think I and @d-pend are just people that in my opinion the world would be simpler if people understood that respect is the top of the pyramid for all the other good things we have to offer.

Well said and I believe more in discussion rather having arguments and discussions should be healthy... Both parties should be receptive and should respect each other.

Yes. Thank you!

Dialogue is the best, and this is what Steemit is about, it is a blockchain that people can interact with each other in addition to demonstrating their diverse talents.

In addition, each individual has a different point of view that can sometimes coincide or not, the important thing is to respect each other and give each person their views without offending anyone.

cordial greetings! @chbartist

Thank you @franz54

The post is absolulety right without respect their is no meaning of relationship, That why Gautam Buddha said without respect their is no reason to continue

Thank you, you are right these are my life essentials for everyone.

Hello @chbartist. It's good to see things are getting better for you and it's good to see, after all this time, you're finally finding ways to listen to and respect views that don't necessarily sit well with your own personal perspective.

With all due respect: In the past you've come across as being a little bit stubborn so seeing some of that fall to the wayside is a big step in the right direction.

I'd like to make a request. In my humble opinion, kind sir, the Steemit trending page is no place for anyone's personal social media status messages. Your life and experience here does not accurately reflect the community as a whole. When one pays to be on this page, as you do, yes, their work can be seen, but at the same time the opinions expressed within these paid for trending posts become disguised as popular opinion. If you're sitting up here claiming the place is toxic, with $500 next to the post, that could lead people to believe the entire platform must be toxic because it appears as if many agree. Some do not know you've paid for this slot and they are unaware your opinion isn't trending based on popularity, it's trending because you want it to be trending.

People see, "The place is toxic," but they don't see the thousands of us out there enjoying ourselves far far away from this trending page and for many months on end. This page, your personal blog and social circle here; these things are not the center of the universe. If you think this is your stage and every idea that pops out of your head is worth announcing to the world and to the tune of hundreds of dollars, so be it. That is how you will be remembered, but please refrain from placing your personal social media status messages like the one above and a few previous posts of yours on the trending page here because unfortunately posts like this and a few of your previous posts have the potential to harm our brands due to the fact your personal experience does not speak for us all.

Majority of the people here are good and it's been that way for over two years. We don't need to be focusing on the minority negative, as you've done so many times in the past, and promoting the dark side to the big stage so it can sweat under the spotlights.

So believe me when I say we have made progress as a community, as small as it may look for some. And I am feeling pretty grateful.

We've been making progress for a long time. Small for some? Massive for many more. There's no need for that progress to be overshadowed and stalled because of your own personal inconveniences within your realm.

I will apologize if I've ever offended you in the past, but I'll have you know, offending you, if I did offend you, was never my intention.

Maybe focus on pushing your best work to the top, because we all know you're capable of doing better, and save the personal stuff for your personal viewership. They will still support you if you don't have $500 next to your post. Try giving them a chance and know that we're not all here to watch the @chbartist Show.

Thank you for your time.

*Self voted for visibility. Self vote will be removed later on.

Not all of us understands cryptos nor fully understands the steemit platform. But if this "@chbartist show" as you call it is giving many of us, his friends and followers, positive motivations and opportunity to be a part of a growing family of people with positive mind set, then then that is what we need because we hope to climb to the top and in trying to do so, we will encounter a number of different personalities including the toxic once whose statements/actions most of the time brings down what was intended to be great and to the benefit of many. How to identify and deal with such people he has shared but i wish he had given some few examples so that we can observe such people and get some guided experience which will also help us in our own day to day interactions. Perhaps someday, someone might rise up from the @chbartist family with a complete guide on how to turn a toxic person to a non-toxic and good friend.
Every community today started with 1 person's idea, next it grew to a circle of people, next a family and then the community.
This is a platform designed for free voicing, it is good we all share our ideas, discuss, understand and learn from one another because we all are from different background with different values and beliefs.
I am looking forward to the day when the friends and family and other positive minded people (and observers if they chose not to be part of the family) of @chbartist will converge and i hope to be in attendance of the coming together of your own extended family ( and that is if i chose not to be part of your own which might not be if it is builded on a positive platform)

great oppurtunity to be with you and follow you , thank you for all you information and knowledge.

Thank you!

@chbartist There are less number of honest peoples. do you agree with me?

No friend, I disagree if you look around you will find that there are many more honest people than dishonest. It is that dishonest minority causes such great damage that it makes us think that most are dishonest as well.

Certainly, we can't build healthy relationship without respecting each others point of view.
I wish as a responsible community, we should have a common code of conduct. That will help us to mutually resolve disagreements and create harmony.

I agree with you. Moreover, I think every individual's thought or word is created by the living surrounding and they are all right to some extent or specific situation. We had better digest what are appropriate to us :)

Это платформа, предназначенная для свободного озвучивания, хорошо, что все мы разделяем наши идеи, обсуждаем, понимаем и учимся друг у друга, потому что все мы из разных стран с разными ценностями и убеждениями.

I won't flag you this time, but you don't need my vote either. I've made my opinions clear and I'll stick with the community I enjoy. Flagging is as valid a tool as voting on Steemit :)

I understand your opinion but I disagree because I think it's counterproductive. Imagine a beginner having a flag in their post because someone did not like the written content. I do not know if you know but there is a study that peoples has committed suicide by having many dislikes in you tube or very few LIKES in instagram. Do you know why YouTube did not want to take the dislikes until now? Because this also of the audience for them to sell their ads without thinking that someone took the time to produce a free content for the youtube to make money with the same content that made a person commit suicide. I'm still going to write a post about how serious this has been in society. With all respect @chbartist

Social media has caused a lot of issues as there can be a lot of pressure to perform. I read about successful Youtubers who are really stressed by having to produce content every day and respond to fans.

I think you tend to dodge the issue that you can be seen to be abusing the Steemit platform by buying massive votes on your posts to appear on the trending page. That looks greedy to some people. Why should your posts take such a large slice of the pie? You have a lot of followers now and many of those will give you votes, so why not just accept the rewards they give you? Just because others buy votes does not make it the right thing to do.

I would not flag someone just because I disagreed with their opinion. Most of what I flag is people cynically abusing this platform with self-votes and bought votes on low quality posts. They only care about the money. The intention of Steem/Steemit was user curation to reward good content. The so-called bid bots were just a business opportunity to be exploited as there is nothing to stop them doing this. I don't know how much you make from their votes, but those running them do very well. I'd rather see more of the creative people making better rewards. Some of them put a lot of work into their posts.

I do use some schemes such as SBI and Steem-UA to give my posts a small boost, but mostly I'm supporting others. I see you also vote for a lot of people and that's good. I think Steemit would benefit from a wider range of people appearing on the trending page, but that's unlikely to happen as things stand.
