Set a Goal For Yourself...

in life •  6 years ago

I guess this post is more directed to those who like me are thinking long term. Given the current state of cryptocurrencies in general, most who got involved in STEEM for the outrageous profits, have fallen off the enthusiasm wagon along the way already. I am very careful to make recommendations to people, specially when it comes to finances, but I’m OK with sharing what I intend to do, and where my mind is at this very moment.

For me it comes down to being honest with ourselves. What do we want? Do we have any goals? Are they worth fighting for? If I can answer these questions then the way forward becomes a little clearer. If though I struggle, then It’s no wonder I’m filled with anxiety and uncertainty.

Which brings me to my motivation for writing this blog entry today. I wanted to sincerely ask if everyone who is here on STEEM has set some goals for themselves. If you, the person who is reading this short post today is making some personal commitments. For yourself of course, not for anyone else.

It could be a certain amount of STEEM before the market goes back up, or it could be knowledge you want to acquire. The goal is personal, just like many other things in life and no one can really tell you what you should be focusing on.

Believe me when I say this though, if you are not setting any targets for yourself, you are likely to never achieve much. It’s really that simple. If you don’t say to yourself, I want to reach this amount of tokens by this date, I want to post once a day for one week, or something of the sort, then you are not in control of what happens in the slightest.

This short post is just that, a short invitation to ask everyone if you are thinking long term, if you are setting some targets for yourself. Because if you are not, today is just as good as day as any to get started.

Stay motivated my friends

We can set goals for our life and we can achieve them. But setting goals for steemit is a bit different. One can never expect upvotes for every post and every time. No matter how much hard work one do, success depends on when whales upvote a post. If whales are favoring someone, his single photo post can earn him more than what one earns in a month.
I have seen that some good post received 150 upvotes but the payout was under $1, while some lucky fellows get just around 20 upvotes but their payout was $30 or $40. So, much depends on networking here. In this situation it becomes very difficult to set any goal.
I received upvote worth $4 for one of my post. A fool accused me of raping reward pool. I could not reply him because I became confused whether I should laugh at it or should I reply him.
I have invested $300 to buy Steem but the present value of my account is just $275. How much have I get in my six month journey of this platform? I post daily here but results are not very encouraging.
However, I think I should not give up easily. Situation can change all of a sudden.

@akdx, @, I warn you do not respond to idiots. I also get flags but what these people do not understand is that every flag I receive they are subtracting a value that I could help someone in some noble cause and I've done it here many times. Follow your work with your convictions, get close to good people who are of good intention and do not let envy or toxic people put you down.

Thank you dear! Your words are very encouraging and motivation for me. It is always better to be close of good people.
Thank you again.

I guess we should just enjoy posting and never mind the rewards, so as not to be frustrated when we did our best and yet we did not get a high upvote...so, keep on @akdx. And let us continue to support one another especially sir @chbartist, soon he will be a Whale here and I believe he will support his followers, too. God bless!

I agree @joshvel. this is nice suggestion.

Great words sir you are right some people are really fool. I totally agree with you. Keep posting good stuff like this.

Very good advice chbartist

Thank you

Its take time to get comand on steem it

I agree. Thank you.

You are right. @akdx I also noticed someone mention the power of commenting. Therefore I made it a goal to comment on "X" amount of post a day. It has been working well for me. Along with posting as often as my time allows. I also make music so posting daily is hard for me.

This world has a short memory. Once you get out of the sight, they'll forget about you. That is why posting daily or at least having interaction becomes important.

I think you get back what you put in. I concentrate on connecting with people and not on buying votes from faceless 'bots'. This guy has some fairly low value posts earning $1000, but it's mostly bought. Give your votes to those who value them.

I wouldn't be that stressed about it if I were you, unless he's buying his steem by investing thousands the big boys will eventually come down and slap him into the reality of it all if he keep claiming such outrageous sums for such little effort. This one doesn't seem to bad, couple hundred, he's a good writer, inspirational but I do have to agree there's a limit on three or four paragraphs of inspiration.

akdx, my situation is similar to yours. I do the automatic voting, but I still don't understand how Steemit really works. It is complicated to me. So, I read post from my favorite authors and comment and write new posts when I feel like it. Writing daily takes away from my teaching job and puts extra stress on me. If I understood what a whale is or who they are, maybe I would try to catch their attention to futher my success here on Steemit.

Only one thing matters here-Steem Power aka SP. If you ca buy loads of SP, you can do whatever you like. Free income is a myth. I read somewhere, "If you are getting a product free, then you are the product."

"If you are getting a product free, then you are the product."

lol. That's a good one.

Yes, I believe that nothing is really free in this life. Produce...meaning sucker???

Really good observation :) enjoyed reading.

steem is a long term investment compared to other currency and I think this is better than those out there but unfortunately, steem was very underrated. Surely, it will rise again as before that it reaches almost 10 dollars per steem.

It is hightime to buy a considerable quantity of steem while the price is so cheap and soon it will rise again.

Steem is definitely underrated. If Steem was ethereum's market cap, we'd be at $100 per steem, wow.

I join when steem was under 1 dollar don't know if will raise again I hope you right

Hi @chbartist this is also very motivational post just like previous atleast newbie like me. I am just few days old on steemit. I have set some goals for each next months. Now I reached 41. Your posts give energy to me for more better performance. Hope for same in future also.

Congrats for your effort! @cryptosandy1

Objective setting is an intense procedure for contemplating your optimal future, and for propelling yourself to transform your vision of this future into the real world.

The way toward defining objectives causes you pick where you need to go throughout everyday life. By knowing definitely what you need to accomplish, you know where you need to think your endeavors. You'll likewise rapidly detect the diversions that can, so effectively, lead you off track.

Instructions to set an objective:

First consider what you need to accomplish, and after that focus on it. Set SMART (particular, quantifiable, achievable, significant and time-bound) objectives that persuade you and record them to influence them to feel substantial. At that point plan the means you should take to understand your objective, and check off every one as you work through them.

If we want to successful on steemit then we have to follow aforesaid instructions in real life. We have to set a goal for a specific time.
How much steem power we want?
How much reputation we want?
For these things we have to work hard with our strategy we have to decide how much post will be uploaded on steemit in a day
All these stuff will happen if we set a goal for that
It is necessary to set a goal to be successful because when we have a destination then we work hard to get path to reach that particular destination.

Thanks for reading

@ajsharma333

@chbartist very motivational post. It's been 30 days since I have started using my Steemit account. I have set goals for each month for next 6 months. My first target of reaching 50 reputation in one month without any investment achieved.looking forward for my future goals. Surely I am here for very long term.

Welcome Dada!!!

Can I ask how you got to 50 rep so fast and how you managed to post almost 60 times per day, on average?

I got 50 rep because what ever tricks I found to get free upvotes like some bots or contests than I share them with other and I ask them only to resteem if they like, no need for upvotes. But definitely those who like they will follow me and upvote my all posts. Mostly I am following many apps on Steemit which give updates for posting thru them. Challenge is not first 50 but it's now to increase it further. I have not written 60 posts in a day. Never more than 4-5 in a day.... Sometimes 1 or 2 only... But yes min 1 posts everyday

Right now, steem is part of my life, @cha. I'm really starting out, and maybe as a new lover, I feel hopeful and full of energy. The situation in my country leads me to have a second income (in Venezuela, professionals or they don't earn a penny), so I not only write my three weekly posts, but also comment (as I do now) and participate in some channels of discord. I am doing the work because I feel that this is already my home, and the homes have to be paid attention to. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to express myself!

I am motivated for sure. The opportunity to address and expose ourselves in this platform are for long term expression not short term gain. Thanks for listening.

You are very welcome @plemmons!

This post is just a right wake up call, for everyone especially me per say. Just about 3 months on steemit and I remember a fellow steemian told me "....oh you came into steemit when the price is nose diving down......". Honestly that wasn't my priority I do know that future weeks steem will start gaining ground; I took a memory lane back when bitcoin was still in its infancy, people never gave it a second thought, but some risk takers still held on to it and today they are obviously smiling to the bank. So for steemit I have set my goals to build a good reputation, gain ground on this platform by adding valueble contents and hope for brighter days ahead with my long term goals and hoping I hold on to it.....LOL thanks @chbartist for this good post.

All the best @kingsleymond

Thanks a billion @chbartist

Thank you for the reminder, after about 6 weeks before my steemit account was finally approved, i had it in mind then to get to the top by the end of the year. Knowing the levels now i will say i intend to become a whale by the end of the year. But seeing that its not what i thought it was and realising my own limitations, i have forgotten about my initial goal i had the months before my account was approved.
Setting a new goal now is not such a wrong thing to do i guess

Great @unclefz. All the best!

Thanks @chbartist

Definitely in it for the long run. I haven't even been on here for a month, I'm still getting my bearings. I haven't set a goal yet because I am not yet very familiar with Steemit, so I'm still experimenting.
I always look forward to your posts, I really enjoy reading them:)

Thanx much for the motivational post! It will surely help people like me for not acheiving what they want but still struggling & working hard in steem to get success.

Success @usman434 - follow @chbartist - All the best!

I already have two months with my steemit account and my goal is to reach 50 reputation with effort and effort, I am currently 35. I also want to continue growing in another aspect in this great Blogchain, greetings!

All the best @franz54

Reaching a reputation of 50, wow, let me join on that race.

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Starting out in steem is a bit tough because as time goes on, you will realize that steem doesnt work the way most steemians pitch it. Its closer to a real life experience where you have to put in effort and dedication. Like you rightly pointed out, it comes to a time when you have to find purpose and commit to it. The first time I saw your post I asked myself when will i get to your reputation but as I searched further I realized you have been on this platform for over a year and you always give out value in your content. I am only humbled by such gesture and I pray I will develop such attribute not just in steem. But in all other endeavours in life.

Posted using Partiko Android

@gowealth,Please do not feel this way. Try to give your best in everything you do and often we just realize that there are things in ourselves that we have to improve. Try to find out what they are and you will see that everything will change and start to work out. I wish all the best for you.

Everyone's good at setting goals, ppl are really bad at follow-through

STEEM has a bright future! I can't wait to be a part of it!!

Great blog for the people who didn’t set their goals in life until now. I also confused some time but when I read or watch articles of videos I like this everything gets clear. Thanks for sharing your great thoughts @chbartist keep growing and keep guiding us

Hello, . The truth is that I would like to win something, but it is not my main goal. I have seen that it is difficult for small fishes like me to grow, we have to make a great effort and although we do things that are valuable, they do not always have the results that one expects, however, as I said in one of my writings, I move purposes bigger, how to express myself, write, create, contemplate. As you say, it's more of a long-term project. Good topic friend, I congratulate you and a hug.

Thanks @chbartist!

When I got into Steemit, my goal is to be a successful author and grow my following and reputation. I want to have as many readers because only then I feel my craft is appreciated. Now, I am glad it still remains the same.

I know it'll take a long way but no one is better than anyone else so I have no fear to take on that goal.

@chbartist! I am motivated from you. Your blog & every article is very important for all steemitian whole over the world. Your good side is your every blog can encourages the people easily. because you work for everyone.
Secondly, you told about target. Yes, I remembered this term that I had read in childhood "A man without an aim is like a ship without a rudder". yes, you explained this term very finely with encouraging the people in steemit those are looking for something new on this platform.
Thank you very much. dear @chbartist! keep it up.

I will :)
Good article.

Success depends on luck too. But much hard work will lead success in the long run.

@chbartist
very well said.. but now days steem is not only the source of earning.

It has become a passion for many others those who really want to write good content..
Its a race where you have to conpete with people who are actually professional in terms of writing....
Appreciate..

People need to stop looking at steemit as a cash cow. It is primarily a social media platform and any money made should be seen as a bonus.

excellent advice, goals are inherent motivators- both on the way to reaching that goal, and when reaching one goal on the way to the next. thanks!

Thinking or planning is one thing. Take action by inplement is a positive step to get thereas planned

Hello how are you? I like your messages always positive ... there are currently many negative messages due to the low currency, however I think it is time to take advantage to invest (people who have money) or people like me, we have no money to invest ... it's time to publish more ..

I set a goal of 1 publication per day, and since yesterday I proposed 2 per day, although it is a bit difficult for me but I want to do it ... In my case it is necessary to publish a lot because STEEMIT for my home, is a great help .. I am from Venezuela and the salary is not enough, so we use the STEEM or SBD to change them and buy food or pay for services, school, etc. It really has been a great blessing to know STEEMIT.

Another of my goals is to increase my voting power, but as I do not have money to invest ... currently the platform is giving steem power and that is very good! That's why it's important to publish more!.

@chbartist
Hello sir once again a great post.
I came in for moneyon the steem but now its not the matter of money anymore its a matter of being trending like you...😂😂😂

Good thoughts, thank you for the reminder and motivation. Setting a goal and carrying out that goal almost always results in greater success. As far as Steemit goals go, after reading others comments, it seems to me that the goals set should be related to things that you actually can control, rather than focusing on the votes or $ you are or are not earning. I am brand new to this, still learning, but in any endeavor you can't control what other people to. You can set up a lemonade stand, but you cannot force people to buy more lemonade. You can control the taste, the atmosphere, the location, etc., but ultimately you will have to wait for the customers to come. So for Steemit, set goals for better quality posting, commenting, etc., but you will have to wait for the $.

I look at the true value of Steemit as a decentralized, uncensored social media platform. It's great to have goals and increasing your reputation and Steem power is fun, almost like a game but one that really matters in a way. But at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself, "why am I doing this?" We should all be here to contribute to something bigger than ourselves, the goal of creating a new community absent of the centralized data-driven sharing platforms. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been thinking about what I wanted to get out of steemit, and although money is a motivator, I'd actually like to foster my writing to create more engaging and enjoyable blog posts!

Thanks!

Tremendas palabras mi amigo, tiene razón, algunas y cuidado si la gran mayoría son muy tontas. Estoy totalmente de acuerdo contigo. Sigue publicando cosas muy interesante como esta.

Goals real life is to get a coaching education and then a place to practice it and later travel with or without coaching :)

Goals regarding Steem. Would be to get to 100SP in order to help others achieve what they want with Steemit, but also be donation a lot to Treeplanter and maybe even make my own Help the future bot/profile on here :D

Either way. I enjoy the ride :D

Great blog your content always good thank you Sir

A longterm goal always pays, you may now see result now,but when it pays, yiu'll forget those struggling you've been through . no pain no gain. This is the best time to invest in steemit,it will rise again . thanks @chbartist

You have posted a stunning content on "Set a Goal For Yourself" where you have tried to focus on the importance of goal selling especially in life. I love it.

@chbartist
Before you can achieve anything in life, you have to know what you want. You have to decide that whatever you’re doing is important to you, that it’s worth it. And if it isn’t, it’s time to set new, more meaningful goals.

If you’re passionate about it, about really living out your purpose, you’ll be more likely to commit—to buckle down and set powerful goals. So focus on what you really want to accomplish, and it will make the journey that much sweeter.

I just started to be active again on Steemit and I set up a simple goal for myself, to post at least once a week no matter how busy or lazy I am. Also, it must be a meaningful post, something that would make other people have thoughts about it.

That is how I keep myself motivated. Thank you for this thoughtful post.

That's an awesome goal! I just read something about content batching which I found really helpful. Basically you sit down and create a bunch of content at once when you're feeling in the zone that you can post as you're ready. That way it takes some of the pressure off feeling like you have a deadline every week. Take advantage of those creative bursts! Good luck with your goal!

I will try this method you speak of. Thank you for the tip and thanks so much for the positive vibe! :D All the best to you too!

I'm so new here it hurts. It's a struggle for this old brain to acquire all this knowledge and just "stuff" surrounding it all. It's so darned complicated! I'm trying though, I'm here and I'm learning something new. That keeps us all young and at my age I'll take whatever I can get! Plus this place looks fun and it's a great opportunity to express ourselves and it's almost too much! But I'm in it and I just am at "Sponge Level" right now. Just soaking it all up and learning my way through. I'm not really here to make money---albeit it would be nice. I'm just in the learning phase. I'm still having trouble figuring out what the heck a "blockchain" is. I just don't understand the concept. Yes, I'm that much of a Newbie.

Gotta start somewhere! Why not now!? Let's go! I'm ready! Thank you! Peace.

Good for you! You are so right, you have to start somewhere! Congratulations on pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and learning something new.... and you're right it is EXTREMELY complicated! No doubt! You are not alone in that! It took me months to finally understand how blockchain works and I still learn new things about the cryptospace every day! Just remember, google, steemit, youtube, etc are your friend when it comes to looking for answers. If you have a question it is super likely that someone else has the same question and has posted the answer for you to find. The Mr. and I made a Youtube a while back explaining blockchain in 5 minutes, check it out, maybe it will help. Stay curious and have fun with it! You're doing great!

Thanks so much! Your posts help a lot.

This is enough.

What do we want? Do we have any goals? Are they worth fighting for? If I can answer these questions then the way forward becomes a little clearer.

  • chbartist .

I think this is good for our goal.
I share your post other steemians who are struggling for goal.

We are living Where worlds are fighting with shares... The part of share are decide who have much strength... Those who have much power want to take much shares everything and vice versa....

I havesetted few goal...

  1. within 1-1/2 years I have tobe financial Indipendent
2.I have to be master of Intraday trading...
  2. Have to earn accumulate 500SP in next coming 3 three month.
  3. Have to help everyone who is now in trouble just like me was during few years back...

very well said.. i really appreciate your words... i am also a long term believer in Steem project... i also set my goal for long run:)

Setting goals Is definitely a must. Without them we can go anywhere and nowhere.

Only a clear vision of what you want to achieve will help you get motivated and put the work to get it done.

Thanks for the article 👍

I haven't set the goal yet, but I guess now is the best time to do it 😉

it not necessary you to set a big goal, there can be a small goal . daily goal, monthly goal -yearly and your purpose of life....

Obviously :)

Thanks so much @chbartist for relentlessly motivating so many people around yourself. That's a rare gift.

My goal is to create, share and repeat every day.

I have boosted one of my posts about creativity with bid bots, even reached No. 2 in overall Trending category but not sure whether or not it will be ROI positive. Here is this post if you're curious:

https://steemit.com/creativity/@organduo/creativity-and-a-sudden-flood-of-ideas

I'm not sure if I should continue or not with the bots. I did however notice the spike in my following over the last 3 days.

Would you be willing to share your opinion in a separate post?

Goal setting is very important and the best way is to write out your goals and put them at a place where you can read them everyday

absolutely true. without goal means a journey without destination-and 90% chance you will get lost in the journey.

download.jpg

it is the important part of life, a person without goal means a person without destination- means he will never happy through out his life. he will waste his energy here and there and at last will get depressed.

Great message, my friend, I'll save it. Regards @chbartist

Nice

It is not possible for everyone to set goals and try to acheive them. Different people have different circumstances under which they are living, personally i found difficult to achieve goals which i have set for myself.

A life without planning and management is life without breath. So, proper planning and goals are quite necessary to succeed in any field of life. This is 100% honest and inspirational thoughts and i am fully agreed with you.

Well, Bro @chbartist i have planned to make at least 5K steem in the end of this year and for this purpose i am working really hard. Hopes are alive and passion is there :)

Goals accomplished!

It's always important to set goal before you think of achieving anything in your life. Life without goal is like you are walking on a path endlessly without any destination and not knowing where are you leading.

I thank you for this post. It motivates me to do better and not to give up. I am still new here (less than a month), however I didn't lose motivation. Reading other authors insights/ article makes me realize a lot of things and that includes you. Thank you.

Sometimes it becomes of "the time has been gone" for almost or lots of the people. And still they are being in a situation of "not deciding for a goal" ... but a big part of time has gone and they making of people for deciding their goal. Sometimes we go late a lot..

@Chbartist I must say you are clear in your thoughts. Your words are easy to understand. I started steemit as an investment plan. But now slowly it became as a passion worth spending my time on. The attraction of this platform is its 'simple'. If one understand basics anyone can do it.In a long term it has the best use case.May be after few years I will invest my full time on it. But surely not now. Because I have a family to feed you know :)

well done sir great motivational post we can do everything when one person motivate a person.

Whoever comes on Steemit for the monetary expectation will fail for sure..

I feel like building steem power is a tangible goal and most importantly just trying to add value to the platform...

Having realistic goals will save a lot of people on steemit some heartache.. To help with the simplification - If you were to dedicate your time and brain cells to producing content on Medium or Facebook, what would you want to achieve?

@chbartist respect!!!
Clearly money is off the table on those platforms.

When you focus a target even if you fall you will never be the same level as when starts .... step by step ... fail by fall the achievement coming soon ..... have a nice day from greece

Hi @chbartist, I have a short term goal and it's to reach reputation 50 and then keep on going up, personally I like to read post that leaves me with some teaching or motivation, the values that the Post or the comments that vote for us don't give me much, so I'm here to learn about the world of the blockchain and also to do something productive in my free time. Congratulations and blessings.

This is a good post to remind myself that I started on Steemit for personal reasons. And this is a long-term goal for me :) Thank you for this great reminder @chbartist

To be honest I do steem for the experience of using a decentralize base system and the community of people who into cryptocurrency. By this time I enjoyed and developed my own goal to achieved within the platform and try to upload more contents.

this is good motivated speech

I've set a goal to complete my #daegustamptrail series before the end of November!! I couldn't really careless about the price of STEEM and SBD. Even if they were to remain a penny for all eternity, that is a hell of a lot more than we'd ever get on FB, Instagram, Tumbr, etc. And for those who see potential in projects on the STEEM blockchain, giving out delegations wouldn't hurt.

Now I am in week 2.
Thank a lot for the motivation. Hope you follow.

With this, networking will not be a barrier to receiving quality upvotes. Personal goals are important, hence, you have to set it if you haven't done it before now.

First of all, thanks for this article and it happens to be published on the same day I registed for my degree :)

Great post! Goals are super important... and so is taking action on those goals! Its one thing to sit around and get clear about what you want and why you want it, and its another thing to plan and take action on making those goals a reality. Thanks for the reminder to stay focused on our goals. We are worthy and capable of amazing things when we set our mind to something and take action!
