Hey Jessadians
If you're reading this, I appreciate you taking the time to do it, finding this post across all the internet has to offer and reading it in itself is a damn miracle. Then when we add in the fact that everyone is so super important and their time is so valuable it really cuts down the changes even more that someone would bother to read the ramblings I put out online.
Our lives have become elite social clubs where we curate those who we let in and out, we're our own bouncers and more often than not, the entry can be pretty steep to grab someones attention let alone foster some sort of bond with them.
A Good idea went bad
Many of us have been told we're special, you have some sort of inherent specialness that no one else can copy, just you being here is sort of one but hey we're all here so get over it.
Growing up I loved playing football it really is one of my favourite sports but I was an erratic talent I could go from barnstorming game-winner to lacklustre passenger from game to game and you really never knew what you're going to get from me on the day. My ability was never quested but my commitment and mindset were the problems.
I would think yeah well even if I had a bad game last week I was pretty good, give me grace, but my coach told me something I'll never forget. You're only as good as the game you're playing right now and as silly as it sounds it only dawned on me then. You can't always rely on merit to get you through, your performance and quality you bring is what makes you special or an asset to others.

The bank of merit
The bank of merit must have crazy returns for keeping your achievements with them since the value always goes up to almost grandiose levels.
Who among us doesn't do this or know someone who hangs on to this crutch? Does this sound familiar?
I was great in my glory years, I treated you well when we first met, I was committed when we first started working together.
People love bringing up past glories and achievements as if its some divine entity that we simply have to bow down to as if they've paid their dues so they can sit around and go through life "retired" so to speak.
We remember fondly but...
You're only as good as your last performance and yes you're welcome to have an off day or a few days, we all have our break downs for sure. But if you've been that way for months or years, that's a behaviour change, that is who you are now and the memory of who you were, back then does not excuse you.
You have an obligation to eitehr up your game or be honest with yourself and those around you! Quit living on past glories.
Have your say
Do you find yourself relying on past achievements? Why can't you admit laziness? Why can't we cut the nonsense and just be honest?
Holla at me in the comments! All my commenters I will now refer to as Jessie. Jessie is a good friend of mine, but Jessies got a girl, and I want to make her mine.
So have at it my Jessies! If you don't have something to comment, simply comment "I am a Jessie."

Hm, tough question.
What if my performance is to convince the world to take a step backward and be easier on themselves? Is this a paradox? Because on many occasions I feel that the best action is no action at all. Ever heard about my favorite principle from The Indian Vedanta? The principle of economy of effort? To do less and accomplish more, or ultimately, to do nothing at all and achieve everything.
And hasn't the 'performance society' lead us to the dog-eat-dog world we're now living in? Not sure about this one. But if it is about always giving my personal best in relationships: 100% agree. That's the only effort I would never let go off.

Well that’s you assuming that performance is always about action, it can also be in action as long as it’s the most positive course of action!
I’m not saying work yourself to the bone, but always try to be the best you every day, be better than you were yesterday instead of living on past achievements

In this world, I always believe taken is only 3% while hardworking, commitment and dedication covered 97% towards been successful. Everyone of us is born special and there is always something unique about each of us but our work is to discover the specialness and to use it effectively

That’s a good point you can’t just rock up and say I have a talent cool, now see how far your talents can take you, refine your gifts! You owe it to yourself to see through the possibilities of what you can achieve
Also I see you’re killing it in the engagement league hey, top commentary

Greetings, friend @chekohler.
Wow!
These paragraphs are full of wisdom.
How did you come to such valuable conclusions and such a high degree of self-analysis?
Unquestionably, we will always be cataloged by our most recent actions. If we had a past of glory and many recognitions, these will be behind a dark veil with only one wrong action that we commit. It will always be like this.
Maybe because it is our recent memory that we use the most.
For all this we must always remain active developing and innovating. We can not "rest on our laurels."
Thank you for these valuable thoughts.
All best, Piotr.
