Are we heading back to communal living?

Aside: For some reason busy.org doesn't always autosave my posts and its starting to get on my tits, losing my content is such a bother. Sigh.

Whats with Steem front ends these days? @partiko has gone quiet, we haven't seen any updates from busy or steemplus. The only front end I see consistently speaking about improvements is eSteem and steempeak.

No, I don't mean Jonestown or Waco Texas style where we all believe in some second coming and inbreed with one another, I mean creating a self-sustainable living that finds an equilibrium based on the resources allocated to us. I've been giving this one much thought and discussed it with quite a few people and it seems like the only rational solution left.

Not too long ago we used to live in little tribes or villages that found a natural balance with the people and resources around them but it wasn't enough, we had room to grow and we did so.

Eventually, we expanded across the globe and for the culmination of growht was the baby boomers and gen x were sold a dream of prosperity and having more than they needed. Have as many kids as you like, get as many homes as you can, and gather wealth to pass down to your generations of families and well make sure you fuck over as many people in the process.

Madness in the middle

For every great fortune, is built on great crimes and crimes against humanity for that matter. We live in a global trickle up economy where the rich have created ingenious methods of concentrating wealth and optimising its extraction while giving the middle class less and less to work with but increasing their output over time until automation comes in.

Those without wealth have had to leverage their time and used debt to accumulate goals that are seen as living standard measures and this cheap access to poisonous money/money with conditions has fucked over many a consumer. We were given tools but never told how to use them effectively because if you misuse them there is a zero-sum game for the banks and those with wealth, it's in their benefit for you to misuse financial tools.

The so-called housing crises

While some do see it as a crisis when you look at it from the current social status of individuals owning a home it can be painted as a crisis but this is anything but, it's just having to adapt with the times in my opinion and how knows it could have an upside to it too.

As the modern world defines success on personal consumption and these false ideas of what individuality means we've distanced ourselves from well or immediate surroundings. We live behind a screen, we receive our information and discourse behind it and we've distanced ourselves from the interactions that make us human and teach us soft skills.

Apart from the monetary benefits, I think learning to be an active member of a community and pulling your weight for the good of yourself and the group is a lesson we've lost and a lesson this style of living will return to us.

As we look to find our equilibrium with the planet and one another, as menial work becomes automated, as we look to move to more sustainable forms of energy, as we look to break away from centralised authority and control communal living could be a focal part of building our new way of living.
