For today’s edition of CC, I want to take you to the majestic Sydney Harbour Bridge. A definite must see for both Sydney siders and tourists alike.

I frequently take a bus into the city that crosses the bridge, but I rarely walk across it. Today, I will share some snaps I managed to take from a few months back, when I walked the Harbour Bridge for the second time in my life (The first was when Sydney celebrated its 100th birthday. The whole bridge was shut down, meaning no cars, buses or trains could operate. Instead, people could walk across the roads to celebrate the historic day).

It's a special experience walking across the bridge. That is if you don't mind cars and buses and taxis zooming by. However, the beautiful ocean view on the other side makes it all so worthwhile!

The Walk

You can go at your own pace - I ended up dawdling and enjoying the view, the breeze and the sun. Don't be too alarmed if you end up sharing the pathway with multiple fitness fanatics who run across the bridge. Just make sure that you practice your spatial awareness before taking those picture-perfect photos so they don't end up running into you :p I can see why they would rather run across the bridge instead of a treadmill - by being there, there's a sense of being alive and active, the fresh air, feeling the warmth of the sun, the cool breeze. Plus if you want to stop for a break you have an actual view to enjoy, watching the ferries sail by.

AND of course, the Opera House

It looks so small from here, but just you wait when you get a closer look from Circular Quay.

Once we finished walking across the bridge, we stopped by the park under it. This is one of @nishyfishy's favourite spots and when he was in high school he used to come down here often with friends (their school is quite close by)
This is also one prime location to watch the spectacular and internationally renowned Sydney NYE fireworks!

Some Historical Facts

• After 6 years of construction, it was opened on March 19th 1932 by Premier Jack Lang
• Made of steel and contains 6 million hand driven rivets
• The bridge also has huge hinges which are used to absorb the heat (metal expands in hot temperature)
• The weight of the arch is 39,000 tonnes! (then add the weight of the all the transport crossing it! :O)
• You can actually climb the bridge! Although to be honest with you, it's pretty overrated and overpriced BUT I mean, if you're only in Sydney once in your life, go ahead and tick that off your bucketlist :D
