With high divorce rates (about 50 percent) in America, it’s clear that many people are getting married for the wrong reasons. Making the decision to spend the rest of your life with someone is no doubt one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. According to the book 101 Questions to ask before you get engaged by H.Norman Wright, these are some of the questions you must know the answers to if you want to get married.
• What is your greatest fear or concern about being married?
• What have you done to address these concerns?
• What are the “must have” and “must not have” qualities in a person you may want to spend your life with?
Whether you’re comfortable with making a shopping list or not, it’s good to have a few non-negotiable qualities on what you want in a partner.
• What passions have an impact in your life and in what way?
You don’t need to have the same tastes when it comes to television programs for example. But it’s good to know about each other’s tastes because a lot of future dinner conversations will revolve around these topics.
• What do you envision in the future for this relationship?
