Sicily, as we know, is a wonderful island: full of aromas, good food and crystal-clear waters.
Not everyone knows, however, that it’s a volcanic island and that in the north of the Messina’s province, there’s an archipelago of incredible beauty commonly known as Aeolian Islands!
If you decide to go there, don’t forget to visit or do these 5 things!
1. Stromboli Island.
It is impossible to describe it in words.
The black sand makes everything very suggestive. About 400 people live in this small place and it’s perfect for safely walking: there are no cars, only mopeds and typical carroças!
A dream for those that are used to the noise of the city.
Enjoy a walk at dawn, between the colorful boats and the black pebbles of volcanic lava.
2. A swim in the blue sea.
Here I decided to leave some photos to tell you about this beautiful blue sea ... the island is small but there are a lot of accessible places and often, you will be on your own, for a few minutes into this wonderful Eden!
3.Go for a trek on the…erupting volcano!
Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes in Europe.
It often happens to observe volcanic activity while on vacation on the island.
Don’t worry: there is nothing to fear. The volcano is constantly under control and the lava flows follow a well-defined course, away from the village.
You can climb to the top of the volcano with specialized guides and it is one of the most beautiful natural spectacles you can enjoy in your life.
At sunset, the fiery sun throws into the sea and the volcano illuminates with its small eruptions the black sky.
You can just get excited!
4. Vulcano Islan
Vulcano is one of the Aeolian islands. It’s volcanic too and as soon as you arrive at the small port you will start to feel the smell of ... rotten egg! Yes, the smell of sulfur is very strong and widespread throughout the island.
The name of the island comes from the Roman god of fire, Vulcano.
Hence the name of the connected geological phenomenon: volcanism.
Enjoy a walk to the main caldera, where you have to cross very hot fumaroles (cover your legs because the smoke coming out of the holes in the ground, goes from 100 ° C to 500 ° C and reaches 900 ° C in extraordinary cases) in a primordial landscape.
And remember to take some time to observe the beautiful smoking islands all around!
5. The famous SICILIAN GRANITA
Ancient and very typical recipe of this Italian region, the granita will make your days unforgettable.
It is a mix of water, sugar and fruit that are progressively mixed together and finally frozen.
Take it at breakfast, snack or whenever you want, there are so many different flavors!
Often in the bars it is possible to accompany the granita, with the famous and delicious Italian croissants ... the one in the picture is my favorite with strawberry and peach.

#7 LOOKAT_IT: ALLA SCOPERTA DEI VULCANI SICILIANI!
La Sicilia, si sa, è una terra meravigliosa.
Piena di profumi, buon cibo e mare cristallino.
Non tutti sanno però che è un’isola vulcanica e che a Nord della provincia di Messina esiste un arcipelago di incredibile bellezza: le Isole Eolie!
Se decidete di visitarle, non dimenticate di visitare o fare queste 5 cose!
1. Isola di Stromboli.
È impossibile descriverla a parole.
La sabbia nera rende tutto suggestivo. Questa piccola isola ospita circa 400 abitanti ed è perfetta per passeggiare tranquillamente: non ci sono macchine, solo motorini e carretti tipici!
Un sogno per chi è abituato ai rumori della città.
Godetevi una passeggiata all’alba, tra le barche colorate ed i ciottoli neri di lava vulcanica che formano le spiagge.
2. Un bagno nel mare blu della Sicilia.
Qui lascio che siano le foto a raccontarvi di questo splendido mare blu...l’isola è piccolina ma i posti accessibili sono moltissimi e spesso vi troverete da soli, padroni per qualche minuto di un piccolo Eden!
3. Trekking sul vulcano...fumante!
Stromboli è uno dei vulcani più attivi d’Europa. Capita spesso di osservare attività vulcanica mentre si è in vacanza sull’isola. Non preoccupatevi: non c’è nulla da temere. Il vulcano è costantemente sotto controllo e le colate laviche seguono un corso ben definito e lontano dal paesino.
Si può salire fin sulla cima del vulcano con le guide specializzate ed è uno degli spettacoli naturali più belli a cui potrete partecipare nella vita.
Al tramonto, il sole infuocato si getta nel mare ed il vulcano illumina con le sue piccole eruzioni il cielo nero.
Ci si può solo emozionare.
4. L’isola di Vulcano
Vulcano è un’altra delle isole eolie. Anche questa vulcanica, non appena arrivati al piccolo porto inizierete a sentire puzza di...uovo marcio! Si, l’odore di zolfo è fortissimo e diffuso su tutta l’Isola.
Il nome dell’Isola deriva dal dio romano del fuoco, Vulcano.
Da qui prende il nome il fenomeno geologico connesso: il vulcanismo.
Godetevi una passeggiata fino alla caldera principale, dove dovrete attraversare fumarole caldissime (copritevi bene le gambe perché il fumo che esce dai buchi nel terreno va dai 100°C ai 500°C e arriva ai 900°C in casi straordinari) in un paesaggio primordiale.
Sullo sfondo osservate le bellissime isole fumanti!
5. La famosa GRANITA SICILIANA
Ricetta antichissima e tipica di questa regione italiana, la granita renderà le vostre giornate indimenticabili.
Si tratta di un mix di acqua, zucchero e frutta che vengono progressivamente mescolati insieme e ghiacciati.
A colazione, merenda o quando vorrete, provatele in tanti gusti diversi!
Spesso nei bar è possibile accompagnare alle granite, le famose e buonissime brioches...quella in foto è la mia preferita alla fragola e pesca.
