What Holds Us Together?

What does it mean to be a gentle and quiet spirit? It doesn’t mean we can’t be fun, opinionated, confident, fulfilled, or able-bodied. But it does mean we know how to be still when circumstances are unsettling...to hold our tongue when the timing isn’t appropriate or the intent isn’t to build up or encourage...

to place our trust and hope in God instead of boasting about and relying solely on our own abilities and capacities...to approach others with kindness and compassion even when we feel like fighting for our rights or putting people in their place...to restrain our emotions when they are volatile...and to look to the Lord for our sense of joy and peace instead of expecting others to supply these in us.

I want to thank all the women in my life who model gentleness and quietness of spirit (my mom, sisters, sister-in-law and sisters in the faith). Each one of them has a different personality from the other, some appear more reserved than others, but all are STRONG!

They aren’t exempted from life’s challenges or trials, but they try to navigate these with grace, and they choose to smile at the future. Why? Because they know the ONE who holds them together. “He (Christ) is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” (Colossians‬ ‭1:17‬) What holds us together? What is the source of our true strength as women?
