Who Are You?

in life •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello steemians, it's been a while. Network issues in the locality I was in didn't allow me here but I am back now.

I was watching a movie recently and someone was asked the question "Who are you?"

Not in an insulting way but more like a deep reflection kinda way.

When you wake up in the morning and life hits you hard, who are you?

When you succeed at a project, who are you?

When someone looks down on your abilities, who are you?

When you are in the position to offer assistance to someone, who are you?

I could go on with different scenarios but let me try to explain. Firstly, I totally detest dual personalities. You know those people who are "nice" in church and evil at their offices? Or those ones who would be so humble when they are talking to a politician but insult a driver who could be their father's age mate...

The person you are should not be determined by a situation you are going through or the people you are relating with. Honey, being respectful to your rich uncle and disrespectful to a waiter serving you at a restaurant only proves that you are disrespectful.

Telling everyone at every chance you get of an assistance you rendered to a friend in need is just a way of "showing yourself" as we call it. You can give with your right hand without letting your left hand know what you gave.

@annieben you may have forgotten you once said this; it's however the perfect answer to this question. You said "you are who you are when no one is watching". I agree with this. When no one is there to give you a thumps up, the person you are at that moment is the real you.

Enjoy your day dearies.

You are who you are when no one is watching

Lol. You remember this. My principal in secondary school was the person I heard it from though.

Yes dear. I recalled it while watching the movie.

This is a nice charge..... With a captivating title....
This gives you the great ability to cope.... No wonder Aristotle said... "knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom".....
Now it also gives you an authentic life where you can cope even with what people say or think about you...... Thumbs up @annieben......
