I would say the most important lesson I learned from any past relationship is that we have to love ourselves before we try loving anyone else. It's something that's easy to say, but the only person that can ever really know if we love ourselves is us, and there ain't no point in lying to ourselves or living in denial. If we don't love ourselves first, it's easy to end up in toxic patterns and hurting each other in some way or another.
