The problem could be in the word "love" itself: is it an emotion or sould we put behind it concepts like trust or respect.
I personnally lean on the first option, love is the feeling that help us mate, a mutual attraction similar to gravity. Then comes sex... Though as you said men and women fall in love in different ways (as our role in procreation is different) so we are bound to misunderstand each other in love. But we are (just a little bit) more than just sexual animals so we should thrive to communicate our love, our way to love and try to find with who or whom you'll find happiness and peace in your heart (and your genitalia!).
Communication is the key, I think it links pretty well with your article about men's closed emotions.
