You, my world - Letters to my son

I'm watching you sleep in your Moses basket, swaddled in the blanket with blue elephants. Your dad hates it when I swaddle you, but it does help you sleep better. You took ages to fall asleep this morning. I sang 'I bought you a mountain' and 'Green eyes, white snow' and you finally drifted off in my arms. I never thought one could love so much.

I'm taking advantage of the time you're sleeping peacefully to tell you a bit about the world.

The news are full of Donald Trump, the new US president. He's keeping his promises to strengthen immigration rules and the world is going crazy. He's banned citizens from 7 muslim countries to enter America and opinions are pretty strong. Theresa May, the UK prime minister has invited him to visit and people here are protesting against it. The press is speculating that even The Queen (who is currently Elizabeth the 2nd) was put in a difficult positions over this. I personally refuse to have an opinion on this, on any of it really. I wonder what the world is like when you're reading this. I wonder what you're like. Anyway, let's carry on.
There's a lot of confusion over Brexit as well. Theresa May had previously said the article 50 will be triggered in march. Now there's talks of amendments that need to be made. Again, I remain neutral, although your dad has some strong opinions.
The rest of the news are pretty irrelevant for you to read in 18 years, so let's talk about you.

You're 2 and half months now, but everyone thinks you look much older. You're almost holding your head, although still banging your nose on my shoulder from time to time. Your dad gets pretty upset with me when you do that, but it doesn't seem to bother you at all. You're smiling more now and we melt every single time you show us that toothless grin. It fills us with all the joy in the world.
I try to take you grocery shopping everyday, although today it rained a lot and I don't think we'll go. You're about to wake up; I'll tell you more tomorrow.

I love you more and more everyday. I wonder if it's possible to overflow, or even explode with love?!
