Be Mindful and Kind To Your Favorite Authors

"Everything is created twice, first in the mind and then in reality." - Robin S. Sharma

Not everyone uses 'bots on Steemit.

I'm a manual curator myself.

If you are as well, I'm here today to remind you that since Hard Fork 17, you have a golden opportunity.

Have been overlooking it?

Be kind to your Steemit friends!

Steemit is weighted towards the present moment.

An author on Steemit is only as good as his latest post.

If you're like me, you aren't sitting there staring at your feed 24/7. You have a life to live, and real-world responsibilities. But you do look at the feed once in a while, and even if you are following 500 people, you spot one of your favorites from time to time. You may read an article, or you may just sling a vote their way.

Next time you read and up vote your favorite author,

why not go the extra mile? Take a minute to visit their blog. See if you've missed any of their brilliant articles.

Even if you don't have time right now to stop and read, give your author a much-needed up vote. Increase their payout. When you have time later, go back to read and comment.

Since HF17, you now have a week to affect payouts.

Take advantage of that time window. Maybe you're systematic. Maybe, like me, you need to be! Make yourself a "clickable list" of the blog addresses of your favorite Steemit content creators. Once or twice a week, click your way through the list and up vote the authors you would most like to stay here on Steemit.

Not only will they be grateful, you'll be rewarded as well.
You'll get to keep coming back for the best available content anywhere.

Steem on!

And help your favorite authors to do the same.

Thanks for your time and attention.
You are why I'm here on Steemit!
I have very eclectic interests and hope, over time, to write about them all.

This is a very good reminder. I'm still busy as heck but I'm trying to find equilibrium. It's good to be back and see my friends' posts. I've missed you.

Hey there, Meredith!

Thanks so much for stopping by and interacting; I've missed seeing you too. I hope that your "busy-ness" is productive and beneficial for you and your family!

I've been delighting in watching the value of my Steemit account rising... It makes it easier to justify spending the time here that I do. :) ;)

Indeed!
So far so good with the productive busy-ness. The VIVA ICO closes tomorrow but there's still so much to do.
My youngest heads to bootcamp on Monday. We're still trying to figure out how to make two trips to South Carolina within 3 weeks of each other but I truly believe it positive thinking and it will manifest as it should.
It's after 2 am. I'm gonna try and catch a little sleep. G'night, love.

Rest well, friend! :) <3

Well said. I am relatively new to Steemit. I appreciate the education and instructional you provided. I have a few blogs too. If any interest you, feel free to upvote and I will do the same. There is something to be said about going the extra mile. Folks do appreciate it. Blessings. - Troy

Thanks, Troy, for stopping by and commenting. Enjoy Steemit!

Again thanks for checking out my blogs.

Thank you for posting @creator.

This sounds like a plan......Appreciate you giving the dilemma a think.

All the best to you and your family.

Thank you for your support.

Hello, @bleujay,

Thank you for visiting and commenting. :)

Blessings!

Another great post @creatr! Love that you're trying to keep everyone honest!

Thanks, my friend. :)

The bots are necessary at this time since there is not a lot of equity spread. Lately, payout has slumped even further for me and it does have an effect on how much time I can spend on an article. Spending 5 or 6 hours developing detailed content for 45 cents may not be an effective use of my time. Even though I enjoy writing a lot, there still has to be some feedback value otherwise it is facebook, linkedin and Twitter all rolled into one where a micro proportion take the lion's share.

Greetings, @tarazkp, very nice to "meet" you here today. :)

Thank you very much for visiting, reading, and offering your thoughtful comments. I visited your Steemit blog to learn a bit more about you, and as a result I have both followed you and re-steemed your very fine article about rewards.

"Spending 5 or 6 hours developing detailed content for 45 cents may not be an effective use of my time."

That can indeed be very frustrating! For me, one of the most frustrating aspects has been the almost random consequences of precisely when I click the [POST] button. Sometimes an article that I dashed off in an hour or less during a fit of creativity, or sometimes a single photograph with minor comments, will gain more support than something that I've worked on over a period of days or weeks.

One thing that keeps me going is the promise that Steemit will persevere, and will become a long-term archive of my work. I contemplate the possibility that my descendants may one day access the Steemit blockchain and learn a little bit about their ancestor.

Thank you again for your visit! I hope you'll access my Topical Table of Contents and find some other articles of interest to you.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have the same contemplation yet I also give it a fifty/fifty chance my descendants are actually a physical part of the blockchain itself anyway.

I also am looking long-term for Steemit but it is quite soul destroying at times. Luckily, I have quite a lot of soul.

However, I do wonder how many people will cope with the lack of consistency in recognition. I have read comments like 'I have been here a week and now understand how this works'... are you sure?

There is a lot of growth to come and it will be interesting to see where it leads. I plan on being a part of it anyway.

I just had a look at where I draft. Still 250 unfinished works to come and each day it grows yet my fingers do not get any faster at typing.

Hahahaha! I share that problem with you... See here for a partial list of articles to come:

UPDATE: "Steemit Tickler File" May, 2017🖋

Your fingers? Try using a better keyboard... I would, except I'm too lazy to learn Dvorak or other better technologies... :O

I'm not a fan of curation bots. I write my posts for people, not bots.
What i love about steemit is the interaction. Even if there was no money involved, I'd still be here because I get people commenting on my work.

I blogged for a year on tumblr and only got one comment. In a whole year!

But here I get comments almost every day.
I'm here for the community. The money is just a bonus.
So as @creatr says, give your writers some love, and a comment or two. It might just make their day

Wow, that's pretty cold about tumblr... :O

I have mixed feelings about 'bots... While I'm happy to have them vote me up and increase my payout, I really do want eyes on my work. I get sad and disappointed when I look at the small # of people who actually view what I've written...

And yet, I do have faithful followers who are kind enough to actually comment and interact! And the hope of Steemit becoming an archive for my writing that my descendants may read far into the future... Cool! :D

Thanks for being an active commenter here on my blog, my friend! :D :D :D

I do my best :-)

I know what it's like to get good comments, so I usually try to leave something more than 'good post'.

But sometimes even that is better than nothing. :-)

I try to make a point to do this as well. I have a few people I had set to auto vote, but I am shifting away from that. I would rather give bigger votes on posts I want to read. Great post @creatr

Good show! :D

I try my best to catch most of favourites, I do miss a couple but try and make up for it when I can :D

Way to go, Karen! :D

Thank you :D

Well said @creatr!

As a fellow manual curator, I have been really enjoying the 7 day window of curation voting awesomeness! I try to keep up with and upvote everyone's blog, but inevitably I'll miss a couple posts. Whenever someone comments on my blog I always take a moment and go to theirs and read, upvote, and comment like a boss!

Thank you so much for the reminder of just how much impact we all can have here in Steemit-land!!! 😊

Thank you for stopping by and adding to my day, friend @generikat! ;)

And, yep, I miss people and posts that I woulda - coulda - shoulda gotten to...

Almost makes me want to use a 'bot, but I haven't quite gone over that precipice yet... :D
