And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
A true vision from God will make any man feel inadequate. Why is this so? The answer is simple, we feel inadequate because we are. No man can ever be sufficient for the task and visions God gives. I therefore can identify with the reluctance of Moses to say yes Lord.
Notice the way he answered when God asked, What is that in thine hand? He said, A rod. An ordinary rod. His answer seems to be saying, Lord, can't you see that I'm unfit for this task? A runaway defeated and stuttering man, with only a rod for a weapon should not go against warlike Egypt.
Really, how significant is a rod to the task at hand? How significant is your little skill to the mammoth call on your life? All you have is a little writing skill, a little listening ear, a little persuasive tongue, a little singing voice, a little something made more little by the size of the call. Oh what a marvel if God will touch your little.
The insignificant rod in the discussion above, became the historical rod of Moses, a piece of wood that shook the mighty nation of Egypt . The power that fulfills the mission is in God the sender. Look away from the inadequacy of your rod, use it as instructed and you will discover that God can use your little to achieve the mighty in his mind.
Jump into the mandate of God in the company of God and don't forget your little rod.
