It is very important for a person to have equality for others in their mind. Identifying other people as human or treating them equally as you would want to be treated by others is humanity only.

If a person cannot help another person and even if they do, and it is for their own benefits, then the humanity is simply over.

Just as the religion of water is to provide coolness, in the same way, the religion of a man is to treat others as equal and to treat others as they would want to be treated by someone else. We should always keep in mind that all the creatures are the incarnations of God and can serve God even by serving human beings.

Swami Vivekananda used to call human religion as paramount and preferred to call himself a servant of humanity.

One day, while Swami Ji (Ji is used after a name in India to show respect for a person) was sitting down to eat, some hungry children stood near him. Swami Ji distributed his loaves to those children. A woman was watching this, and she was surprised. She asked Swami Ji,

you have given your loaves to those children. What will you eat now?

Swami Ji said with a smile on his face -

Mother, the bread is the to calm the flames of the stomach. Today they need it more than I do.

The feeling of equality will only be awakened within us when we adopt such a behavior that, whatever kind of attitude that our eyes do not like, and the words that our ears do not like to hear, will be dislikened by others also, and should always be avoided from using. By adopting this approach, our language will change and we will start having a view of equality between others and ourselves, which will lead to our relationships becoming kindred.

By equanimity, man can even make his enemy his friend, whereas jealousy can turn friends into enemies too. When even if our body is beautiful from the outside, but if there is a poison of disorders within, then it will neither feel good nor will it be of interest to other people.

Mahavira Buddha says that -

those people who are jealous of others, they never receive peace of mind. When we support a helpless or miserable person while maintaining a favor, we get happy in the end.

Such happiness is not possible by any other act, even wealth cannot provide such happiness to us.

Swami Ramatirtha says that -

if anyone comes to you, then think of him as God and welcome him.
