MEN in the UK to be financially able to spend more time off work (up to 3 months 90% pay) and with their children during the first few months of their lives.... (much better than the current £139 per week for 2 weeks!)

Whilst this sounds great, in practice it won't work, to play devil's advocate; imagine you are a small business owner, you employ 15 staff and it's a family run, family feel business.

Because of that, you have 2 sets of couples among the staff; if one of them gets pregnant, and you have to give both the man and the woman 3 months off with 90% pay, may well financially ruin you.

If the other couple get pregnant, well you might as well fold the business; because ultimately you can afford to have 15 staff, not 19; which is what you'll have for at least 3 months.

I just think forcing employers to give men maternity leave will lead to much more workplace discrimination; it's a tricky issue.
