I really had thought that the contending councilor of my barangay for eyeing the seat for Barangay Captain had some upper-hand in achieving large votes and might win considering that he got a "Block Vote" from a religious group whom he also bribed to vote for him. Two things had happened here, it is believed by many that block votes from this religious group makes a big difference in winning the politicians that they voted for but because this councilor had lost in a "Landslide" manner in favor of the former Barangay Captain that I wanted to win, it is proven that block voting from this religious group doesn't mean that they have a big impact on our election. Now they will not be favored by the new and former Barangay chairman that's for sure, and sad for them.
Well the other thing also had happened, the loser candidate had lost much money in bribing people in our barangay. I couldn't be sure that most of the bribed people also voted him, in fact I haven't heard that his supporters went to him to console him, the people the day and night before the election which passed by along the alley beside my home which is a right of way to his home at the back, I mean all his supporters weren't really his supporters but are just people who only wants to benefit from his way of buying votes which is why the new barangay Captain told him that he and his supporters, mainly family members and relatives doesn't want to fight fairly. His loss also proves that you can bribe a person for sure to vote for you but the question is, did he/she really vote for you?
This loser candidate also has a beef on my parents and it could had been awful for me and my parents if he had won. It will mean that we will not get the documents that we needed for accomplishing the requirements for certain financial requests that my mother does from time to time, partake some relief aides if when it is distributed due to calamities, and of course it will be harder for me to use the Barangay-owned ambulance in the future. That is why I had been jittery about yesterday's Barangay election and thinking about what series of bad things will happen to me directly had it been that my candidate loses with this possibly Tyrant "Kapitan" wins.
My mother was also eager to know who would win the election considering that the involvement of block voting religious sect had voted for this loser councilor. That is why my mother told me that she would not be with me yesterday. I also didn't want to insist her to go with me at my dialysis because she wanted herself chat to the people around. The street here in our barangay near the primary school building entrance was full of supporters from both sides of the candidates vying for the position of Barangay Chairman/Captain. So when counting had started, my candidate already had a leading votes, later he won "Landslide" over the loser candidate which believed that he could win easy not knowing that he is already acting as a Lord Tyrant Captain already with a history of open corruption like stealing items like coffee and sugar from the relief aides which is meant to be given to the people of our barangay.
Now I can breath a sight of relief because the former Barangay captain had won. It will help us with my parents to get some needed services from our Barrio's government unit more than ever because he is friendlier to us although not as resourceful compared to the former outgoing Barangay Captain. He is much better choice compared to anyone for now so I guess that it is better than nothing because most of the time, the fight with these kinds of election is about getting more favor from the winning side which is why me and my parents needed our winning candidate to win or else , we will just be left going through difficulties like acquiring a simple document or missing-out on getting benefits coming from the Town government.
