I started to listen to rock songs after my brother come some with cassette tapes that we would play in our stereo player. I can remember at first that he bought one of the Metallica's album, it was the early 90's back then and I am still liking to watch cartoons too at that time.
Then around 1993 or so he bought the "Nevermind" album, it was really good to listen to it because of the blending of sounds by the editor/producer or whatever. The sound was rather "thick" because of the effects done to the music. So if you would recreate it in live performance it will not sound like what is coming from the cassette tapes.
I got hooked, then my brother also bought all of the Nirvana albums even the rather unpopular ones just before the "In Utero" until the "Unplugged" and then just as I was starting to like Nirvana the news came out that he killed himself already, indeed I was devastated by Kurt Cobain's passing and after his passing it was weird that the rock era ended with him too.
The 90's was the time of rock and roll, we tried to make our hairs long but since we are going to high school it just didn't happened. In the local music scene there was called an underground bands/songs. They also went popular and later the songs of these bands can be heard playing in the radio. Most of them are punk rock bands and heavy metal and some are alternative rock bands as they are called.
Nirvana's music genre was called "Grunge" but for me it was only Nirvana that dominated that kind of music type as some others would not compare but still most of them sounded goo to me too.
What I liked also about Nirvana was Kurt's raspy and strong voice, perfect and a bit poppy for me so because of that I can sing along even though the lyrics more often doesn't make sense, it is because the music came first before they had put lyrics in it but nevertheless I really liked most of Nirvana's songs.
In this video we could hear Nirvana's better version of the song "The man who sold the world" it is too good also for me that it is one of the songs (Sung by Kurt Cobain) that I would sing along.
