We always own a dog because of two reasons, security, and an alarm, although in the sense of security it is quite complicated, an intruder that has a gun can kill our dog in many ways, they can shoot it with a gun or rifle which never happened anywhere else because it is cumbersome if not practical to carry a gun around for the purpose of robbing a house particularly he in my neighborhood or practically anywhere else because the streets are lined with CCT cameras. The action of trying to invade our property can already cause an alarm from our neighbors not to mention it will already trigger our dogs to frantically bark unto the intruder. That is why killing the dog in the first place usually would not end well and even if they do they will soon be tracked because of the CCTV cameras plus risking themselves of being caught with illegal arms for their evil purposes.
But it is different if you happen to have a vicious guard dog like we have although that medium-sized dog it serves its purpose for our needs. Our dog doesn't know me well because it had grown not seeing more often, so it does growl whenever I get close to it, in fact I am scared by our dog that it might bite me if I happen to be all by myself and go out near it. But it seems that lately it is already recognizes me but not enough that it wanted to lick me or showing some excite whenever it sees me. So I can't trust that dog fully with my safety against it. For being vicious it doesn't recognize other people which is the best attribution for a guard dog so that you can count on it if an intruder will show-up because it will bark and bark until the individual is no longer in its sight.
Making a useless guard is to let it roam the streets and catching rabies, parasites, and all that dog problems. Exposing your guard do to other people also makes it be friendly and in turn will never be a reliable source of alarm because of the resulting friendliness. But if you really want a very good guard dog, size can matter too, just let the puppy grow not seeing other human other than your family members and after some months particularly when it starts to bark, it is already ready to give you its service and function as a guard dog. With regards to owning a dog, sometimes I would think not having any because for one thing it it dies, you will feel sadness as if a person dies, then the issue of noise if you happen to live within a place which can trigger the incessant barking of your dog, then it can cause problems for you like being unable to sleep in times that you needed or want to sleep but regardless the value of having a guard dog around your house is much better compared to not having any.
