Whole30 Day 12: Things This Change Makes You Realize

in life •  7 years ago

I am on Day 12 which means I am almost halfway there! I am starting to realize some interesting things about not only myself but people in my life. My family, people I work with, just people that see you in general when you are overweight especially at this time of the year. Everybody thinks "well she's overweight there's no way she will be able to do it". Well here we are doing the dang thang and remembering that some people are judgey and I don't like them! I get up and either go for a power walk or do strength training in my living room. Today is my walking day but since I didn't get in either yesterday, I will probably do a little extra today.

Now back to my original thought. I will go off on little side trips in my mind and I will circle back to my original thought eventually! I am a master of small talk but my husband says it's because I am from the south and we love to stand around and talk about nothing in particular just to talk haha. I have come to a realization about people. First, it's the people you wouldn't figure on that will support you in this. My family loves food of the unhealthy variety but they have been my biggest support and it seems like they are trying to cut back on junk. This is kinda big because they love to eat out! I will occasionally eat out( not on whole30!) but it's maybe once a month. I like to know what I'm eating so fast food is not my favorite!

On to my second realization, people you just know socially, like at work, think you are weird for wanting to do this. I don't really think it's a big deal until I get into a social situation with food and I can't eat the pizza or chips and dip or, heaven forbid, doughnuts! I will bring myself a snack like almonds or something that fits in my purse that way I won't cave from hunger. People think you are crazy for not having just a little. I've definitely been called much worse than crazy but it stills stings a little to be thought of as the weird one just because I don't want the junk food that makes me feel terrible after eating it. Not to mention having just a little for me turns into a lot then we start back on Day 1. No thanks.

Lastly, I realize that there are sooo many ways to get in daily exercise besides just doing the same workout video or the same routine every day! I love to walk but I have walked a 2 mile loop around our house for a couple years, I am getting a little bored of the same thing so I started doing a walk from home video I bought at Wal Mart and that changes it up when it's snowing(like today) or I just don't want to go out. However, I got bored of that too and knew I needed to mix it up so I have been doing different things like dancing and beginner weightlifting. I am in no way ever going to be great at either of those things but it mixes up my workouts enough that I don't feel bored with it! I will never join a gym! We live pretty far out of town and between paying for a gym membership plus gas, it's just too big of an expense when I could do most of the same things in the comfort of my house:)

This post was just a few of things that have been on my mind this morning. I called out of work because our road is solid ice and you guessed right, I absolutely can't drive in the snow because we rarely ever get snow in Tennessee! So today is a me day and I made Whole30 approved deviled eggs for breakfast and I'm gonna eat them, stay in pajamas, and binge Netflix after my workout and shower;) I may do a post with that recipe later because they are stupidly simple!

I don't have many pictures for my whole30 posts so I will add this one of me and my daughter on a morning walk before the snow started yesterday. Can you tell I'm not really a selfie taker!?

You're doing great! Those judgey people can go pound sand. They're not strong enough to do their own thing, so they jump on you for daring to. Just keep going and next time one of 'em offers you a doughnut, offer them some almonds when you say no.

Thank you! It's hard for me to say no to sweets, especially doughnuts, but it's getting a little easier to tell people no;)

Well done. Keep it up and you will see benefits. Not just in size but other aspects too. I found my sleep returning to normal and blood pressure went down to normal too.

Thank you. My sleep has been pretty great too! I think it might also have something to do with the fact that I am not eating ice cream right before I go to bed too;)
