How I made over £1000 in 4 days

The past week I have not even had the time to unwind at home. My whole life has just been work, sleep, get up at 6am and work again. Therefore my daily diary concept went out the window as I just didn't have the time. I will however give you a summary of this past week and get back on top of things like I am doing with everything else.

I want to begin this as a catch up of some of the things that have happened to me these past few days. I was working at an event and my friend was there for the first and last day, who I haven't seen for weeks, so it was great seeing her. I was absolutely exhausted by the first day and was unable to speak to anyone after working - I just held my hand up to signal stop if they spoke to me. I felt dreadful. By the second day, however, I was fine and got myself into a routine.

It was actually great working there and I got to know a lot of people around me and as we were all in the same environment we all got on despite our different ages and backgrounds. I also had some interesting experiences with the customers. For instance one drunk guy gave me his number and followed me into the kitchen before the African washing up lady gave him a stern telling off and the South African door man kindly offered to escort him out of the building if he was harassing me. I also got talking to a lovely woman and if you're ever talking to any waiting staff I can tell you that when people remember your name or anything about you it means so much as it doesn't just feel like you're someone who's only there to serve them. On the other hand, one guy who actually did know my name, accidentally called me April (which isn't my name) and this stuck with me for the rest of the week which didn't make me feel too special.

Anyway on to the money side of things, I genuinely don't think I would have got this much money if I didn't pick up a book called The Magic a few months beforehand. This book essentially breaks down with the importance of gratitude. This was a concept which was popularised by The Secret, which is a book and also a film, if you were unaware. I overlooked gratitude when I watched The Secret because I was more focussed on getting more than what I had and what was the point of focusing on what was already there when I knew that's not what I was content with? However what I got wrong was that what you are grateful for and what you focus on the most is what you attract more of into your life. So when I started being grateful for money and my job (even though I didn't have any income because working at events I only get to work a few days out of the year) I later got a notice saying that I was working in a different area. This area is seen as more high up then my previous areas of work as you're working for people with more money, so I was very nervous. The first time working there for 3 days I got £80 in tips which was incredible for me and I was over the moon and continued being grateful and focussing on what I did have. I then got moved again and this time the people liked me so much they requested me back. That time I got £260 in two days from them and this time I got £780. This, on top of my wages, equated to over £1000 is 4 days from waitressing.

This post is slightly different from theme of this blog, but I thought it was important to mention as it definitely was the highlight of my week. I won't go into much detail of the other events that happened in the week purely because so many little things happened to make it significant it would be way too long to write and would probably be boring to read. And if you are still reading this, I will be going back to my normal style soon.
